I’ve been tracking songs on my computer. I was inspired by Billy Harvey who’s last double CD recording: Grow, Garden, Grow was written and recorded mostly on the road when he was playing guitar for Bob Schneider’s band. They are an eclectic bunch of songs that display his versatility and talent in production, engineering and song writing.

Billy and I have been chatting about being creative and letting flow happen. Always reminding ourselves to live for today, keep out of fear, and to stay out of incessant self-critique! I was inspired by the "mistakes" in his songs- the extra noises that don’t make sense. Just let it roll. Nothing’s perfect.

I originally consulted him in hopes I could gather some money for his production skills- I liked his vibe and what he was doing onstage with his loop pedal. He seemed happy, independent, and confidant.

Instead of chatting me into doing anything at all he turned the tables on me and said: why don’t you do it yourself? Just get going on it. I thought it a great idea- and after years of postponing and making excuses I plugged into my computer and clicked on Garageband.

So the first song I really tracked was a song inspired by a chin wag I had with him when he was on tour for Grow, Garden Grow. I told him my dam broke and I had been crying incessantly and he said he couldn’t. All blocked up. Which is worse?

"Cry Billy" is the tune. The rest of the songs are introspective and have a different feel from the The Easies band recordings. I think the two sounds are distinctly different. Some people have remarked they like the quieter stuff better- others have said they prefer me with a band. I like both.

Come see me play solo at the Mooselodge on the East Side April 15 opening up for Foot Patrol or see the full Band on May 3 at the Pecan Street Festival at 8:30 sandwiched between The Bill Jefferies and The Awesome Cool Dudes.

Listen and if you like download all the DD Dagger Solo tracks here: http://www.myspace.com/dddagger
