Many people from New York make the mistake of going to the worst bars in Jersey City. Don't be one of them, or you will be broke AND bored.
Here are some resources you can use to find all the fun things going on in town on your night out, which will, of course, be on a BabyHole night.
Arts and Entertainment
Art House ProductionsArt House is, I believe, the longest running performance and visual art collective in Jersey City. They run
JC Fridays, a seasonal art festival in Jersey City, and have art openings and theater productions throughout the year.
fifty8 GalleryFifty8 has art openings and occasionally bands play there. They also host my favorite New Year's Eve Parties.
The Grassroots Arts FacilityThis building houses three art spaces: The Urban Living Room, The Lex Leonard Gallery, and Toy Eaters Studios. All three function independently of each other, so you have to get on their mailing lists to keep abreast of events.
The Lamp Post Bar and GrillBands play free shows at this bar on the weekends, there is Jazz on mondays, and DJ's make dance parties on the other nights. Drink prices are reasonably priced and heavily poured.
www.rockitdocket.blogspot.comDancing Tony's guide to everything to do in Jersey City. Art openings, free shows and fundraisers are listed as well what Jersey City artists are doing in New York this week.
Toy Eaters StudioThis laid-back versatile art space hosts art openings, poetry shows, all sorts of bands, and BabyHole.
News and Events
JC ReaderThis site compiles all the Jersey City blogs and lists the news in small chunks of information so you don't have to.
Underdevelopment TVThis site documents the arts and political landscape of Jersey City.
There are more, and if you think I've missed any of the better ones, you can email me and I will ammend my list.
