I first learned of this concept years ago when reading a book by Ly De Angeles. Mulengro is the force that holds you down. The force that keeps you from ever achieving your true potential. Mulengro can be found in the form of that biiter person that wants to make you feel bad about yourself. It can be found in the form of the abuser or the psychic vampire. It can also be found in the form of the person who tries to convince you that your craft is leading you to ruin or to 'Satan'. Mulengro wants to keep you from listening to your intuition and scramble your senses. Never give in to Mulengro!

Wow, this topic is not getting the same response the other one did. That's too bad! Developing the ability to overcome adversity and build confidence is so important.

I like this analogy and I don't. What I don't like about it is the insinuation that there is a force that is doing something that can affect me. This inherently goes against my personal belief system. I don't believe there are external forces, astral, ethereal or otherwise, that can manifest something without a physical operator or a belief in my part that it is manifesting. I have been taught by a great teacher that one of the keystones to magick is belief - the belief that what you have performed magick to attain has absolutely worked. I believe the reverse of this to be true as well. I don't believe that an external force, without my willing belief, can actually do anything to me.

No, I'm not naive. Yes, I have had lots of experiences with invocations, evocations, possessions, psychic attacks, ghosts and the like. But without me being a willing "vessel" they would not have happened. So Mulengro has no power over me. Nor does Satan. Nor will they, because I am the weaver of my own cord. I am responsible for my own karma. Wicca is one religion that reinforces this self responsibility through its simple golden rule, and I respect it a great deal for this.

And by doing that, you have mastered Mulengro. True, it may not be an actual "force", but it's certainly something you recognize when you see it.

And yes, the story of Horus is a classic example of overcoming adversity.
