If you like bands such as Origin, Brodequin, Devourment, Dying Fetus and Cephalic Carnage, then definitly check out Saprophagous. Despite several influences from all over the Metal spectrum, Saprophagous manage to keep the music fresh and extremely brutal. Everything is pretty much run of the mill here, but the arrangement and delivery of these tracks will have you taking a second listen. The drumwork is nice and thick and the guitar riffing just seems to wrap around everything that's going on here. There are some points in the songs delivered here that the music takes on somewhat of a Death Metal feel rather than a Grind feel. This is not a bad thing as it adds intensity and depth to eatch track. the vocals are the typical vocal you would find in this type of music, however, every member of this band performs vocals at some point and it really stands out as a high poing of this cd. Plain and simple...EVERYTHING about this demo fucking shreds !!! This band does a stand up job on these six tunes so i can just imagine what it will be like when the come out with a full length recording. I would also like to add that the song titles here just kick ass with the stand out song title on this 6 track effort being track number 5 " Outer Implosion of the Nebula ICI 22 24 " That one will definitely cause you to think a little bit. This also just happens to be the best song on the cd IMO. Even though this is a fairly short cd, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the bands I have listed here. Or even if your looking for something that is just plain fucking brutal and will make your ears bleed, then pick up Saprophagous " Dimensions of Diverse Brutality ". There is no disappointment factor here as there is nothing about this disc that is disappointing. Everything is put together nicely and will tear your fucking heart out when played ad a high volume !!! One last not here...The production and packaging is second to none here. This sounds and i as pretty damned professional as it gets wiout being on a bigger label. My hats off to these guys for doin an amazing job on this disc. Saprophagous are showing us the diverse dimensions of brutality on this self produced and self released EP. If this brutality has many dimensions, that is something we can discuss. The main fact is that Saprophagous plays death metal the brutal American way. Anyone, who thought that their name Saprophagous, including their difficult to read band logo, referred to the grindcore dimensions, will be wrong. Death metal is being brutalized here.
Saprophagous were born in 2001 and are at this moment still unsigned. This latest CD has been released by the band under the banner of Liquified Flesh Productions and can be ordered directly through their myspace. This is their fourth attempt to attract record labels, after their “Embrace Imperfections” 2002 and “False Predictions” 2003 demos they released a mini EP Convexity Of Illusion” in 2006. And now they are back to attract us to the dimensions of diverse brutality.
Brutality it is and one band immediately comes to my mind. Suffocation reminds me a lot of Saprophagous or the other way around and that is a huge compliment. Same style of song writing, sick riffs and gory sound. It is like Suffocation at their starting period, so “Human Waste” drums and “Effigy Of The Forgotten” guitar brutality. Six songs show their deeds of flesh in a disgorged, insane low, dimensional brutality. 19 minutes of death metal leave you gasping for more air… so the repeat button needs to be pushed again and again.

Ok first of all for all of those out there who need a point of reference I believe Saprophagous is some kind of work that feeds off bodies and helps with the decomposition. That would make sense then for a Brutal Death Grind band to name themselves after it. Hailing from 'Long Beach' in 'california' and following up a demo with their debut full length release entitled 'Dimensions Of Diverse Brutality', 'Saprophagous' are like 'Ronseel' quick dry and wood stain. [Probably a pun for the British readers this one] in so much that they do exactly what it says on the tin. That is to play loud, play fast and be totally brutal, a job that this band does spectacularly well. Indeed Saprophagous are technically proficient but utterly at home and ease with the sheet mayhem their music unleashes upon your ears. Indeed whilst change and variety is not really in the bands nature, stunning violence is. That's why for all those people who like their music to almost strip their skin from their face, I think this band will suit them down to the ground. [7]....
