In today's day and age it is becoming more and  more difficult for women living in urban settings to have natural child birth.  .  The birth experience in America has been taken over by insurance, drugs, high tech equipment, expensive bills, fear and the whole time is money mentality.  We hear more and more of women scheduling in their child's births for a ceserean.  It has become procedure in the hospitals to give drugs such as pitocin to any women who's labor is prolonged.  Epidurals to those who are complaining to much of the pain and don't want to feel it; or if they are scheduled to have a cesearean.  But of course, if you are educated about the birth process and your body and the drugs that they offer than you can always refuse them and sign a waiver, but for those women who are not educated about these things it is 'standard procedure'.  Now, this is not to say that sometimes these things have been useful and have saved lives, but have you ever asked yourselves why these things have become 'standard procedures?'  I can say that most of them have been standardized after litigation. In other words, because people began to sue hospitals for mal practice.  For example, when a baby is born in a hospital there are 'standard procedures' that they do.  One of these procedures include an eye ointment,  The eye ointment is suppose to be an atibiotic used for babies being born vaginaly to women who have Aids or other STD's, but today if you don't tell them ahead of time that you don't want the ointment than they will continue with there 'standard procedures.' It doesn't make sense to me to put anything in my babyies eyes fresh out the womb when both of us are healthy.   Does it make sense to you?
My experiences of giving birth has lead me to educate myself about the natural birth process and natural medicines to aid the process and take care of mama and baby.  I belive that God made women strong enough to endure the pain of child birth and that labor does not need to be rushed.  I belive that giving birth is a ceremony and it should be treated like that. It is a natural process that the Creator has blessed the Woman Nation with and that is power.  I believe that the hospitalization of child birth has taken this power away from women and turned it into a business to make more economy and by doing so has instilled 'FEAR' in to many woman especially our young uneducated women.  It's time to change that, so I will continue to share with you all my experinces and please share yours .  Lets support each other and educate each other.
