Well today we got back into MySpace and put up some songs.  We have been dealing as a family with the death of our son and brother Mark.  The song at the top of this list is Raining By Night which is from our first album Railroad Boy.  In 2003 and 2004 Mark played with us, before we wereThe Blue Ribbon Tea Company. We did our first show in January 2003 and the unnamed band was Mike Janes on harmonica, Mark on electric guitar and me on rythm guitar with Kathy joining us for two numbers at the end on mandolin.  One evening soon after we had purchased a Fosdex digital recorder we were set up in the dining room, Mike, Mark and me just practicing a couple songs in front of the microphones, not a very elaborate setup or well engineered but I hit record without telling anybody and we ran through this song of mine Raining By Night.  It went well: we actually ended all at the same time and Mark smiled his little shy smile (never grinned).  Then I said, "Let's play it back." and he said, "What, you recorded that?"  That's how we had to work to get him to record.  We all laughed.  After that recording and our live show he kind of layed off guitar, getting into one of his episodic depressions and only in the last year did he commit himself to playing seriously again, getting himself a working Les Paul.  His brother Shawn has been playing with us for a couple years now and I had some vague plans of expanding the band and the sound with Mark on electric guitar. But he died suddenly on December 11th.  So here is Raining By Night, Mark's suprise recording debut, from the Winter of 2002-2003.
