These are the AMA Blog Rules.
Follow them!!

You think of a question, or a couple of questions, or a lot of questions. You post a comment with a question on it. I, in return, reply to your comment with the answer. Now, there have been many questions posted in previous AMA's that I haven't really liked, and there are some answers that have been posted that haven't really been liked, so no hard feelings if either happens. To make it easier for me to answer questions, and keep track of comments, one question, and only one, should be in a comment. Comments with more, or with long lists, will be deleted. You can post as many questions as you want, or even follow-up questions. Just make separate comments for them. Also, note that while all questions are answered, they may not be all answered immediately. Your patience is appreciated!

This blog, in so many words, is a thank-you.

Thank you, to you.

Thank you to everyone who has read a piece of my writings over the last few years. You read the funny ones, the serious ones, the pointless ones, the powerful ones, and the ones that I look at nowadays and wonder what the hell was I thinking.

There's probably nothing in this world that could show my appreciation to all of you.

(Well, in these days, I'm sure money could. However, I don't have any money either. So that idea is out.)

The main reason that I thank all of you, is that when I don't write, you notice. You bug me. You nag me. You remind me. You let me know, in so many ways, that what I do is not for nothing.

That appreciation of you is why I do the AMA Blog. And that time has come, once again. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I give thanks, or a least try to, by letting you have control of the blog. You ask the questions. I give the answers.

The same rules apply as every other AMA Blog. The same theory applies too: if you never ask a a question, you'll never get an answer.

Get ready, get set, and ask away!

I hope by the time I finish this that I am still first. I would like to thank you J! for adding something wonderful to my life. You have influenced my writing, my radio show, and my life in many other ways and I thank you for that!

So, for the question: In the past year what has had the most profound impact on you and what do you think what you learned from that impact will help guide you in 2009?

Congratulations, you're still first. And I want you to know that you have influenced me as well, in more ways than one.

By far, my biggest influence is that trip to the hospital back in June. It literally changed the way I live my life, and I am continuously trying to do things that are healthier.

(luckily, you know what I'm talking about, and don't have to explain it.)

Here's my question what are your predictions for the playoff and superbowl? Who will make the cut and who won't? You better include my team in the prediction. Go Patriots!!!

I believe I made my predictions for the season when the season started. I believe I said Dallas, Green Bay, Carolina, Seattle, Philly, and the Giants from the NFC. The Jets, Patriots, Ravens, Colts, Jaguars, and Cardinals in the AFC. Super Bowl will be the Colts beating Dallas.

I have a feeling I was wrong.

i have been waiting patiently for your ama's! finally- it's here!
do you feel that getting family and friends Christmas gifts from thrift stores &/or craigs list a bad idea?

There's some trickery to getting someone a gift that's been... 'mildly used.' If you think that a gift off Craigslist or a thrift store...

...and while we're on that, I'm glad you said thrift store, or else I would have thought you were getting someone a hooker. Bug I digress...

If you think that a gift from another person's hands will work, you need to be confident in it, and make sure it is "the" gift. That means that it better be exactly what the receiver wanted, or something that the receiver will definitely remember. A good example came from a friend of mine. She loves New Kids on the Block, and another friend of mine gave that friend a NKOTB clock. But it wasn't just any clock. It was a wooden clock purchased on eBay, that had to be at close to 20 years old. Would anyone put that up on the wall now? Hell no. But the effort to get that gift and the meaning behind it make it special.

So, to answer the question, if it's a great gift, go for it.

I decided to go to a variety store down the street from my office building. i spent $60.00 bucks on 8 people, 3 cats, 1 dog, also including tape, ribbons, wrapping paper, and finally 3 cards for Christmas. I will make no other purchases. i'm done shopping. Everything else will be home made using office supplies.
If you could ask God (or whoever your choice of higher power is if you have one) one question and KNOW it will be fully answered in its entirety, what would you ask her?

I should be reading your blogs more often. Thanks for keeping 'em up though I have been slacking. I'll be back with a question as soon as I can come up with a good one and it conforms to your rules. :)
