keith diaries pt3 June 30, 2007 . Lets talk about heat. There are a few kinds of hot, as Y'all well know. There's "dry heat" such as the heat you might find in Arizona, New Mexico, and other desert areas. This is when we heard a loud whistle occur in our tour van due to the 110 degree temperature MELTING the silicone adhesive used to install our windshield! Yes, our windshield almost fell out due to the melted glue! Then there's "cozy heat". this is my personal favorite because its nice and warm yet there's a lovely breeze accompanying said heat. this rules. Finally there's "muggy heat". This sh*t sucks. we drove 24 hours to Corpus Christi to play in the wettest, hottest, most dreary conditions. onstage, my shirt disintegrated and the remnants were absorbed into my body. dude! Chase Culp lost 1.5 lbs in 35 minutes! Morgan Rose, drummer for Sevendust, looked like he was about to cry! This guy is one of the best drummers in the world and he had a rough time. This validates my temperature woosie-ness. This show was exhausting! butcha know what? The fans in Texas and especially Corpus fans absolutely RULE! These folks know the words, own the shirts, bring the kids, and scream there asses off! This kind of rockin' makes the Point One bus wanna turn around and party with Texas! we like to party.
We are now en route to Dallas, then Wichita. These are 6 hour drives and should be tons-o-fun. We've begun mixing our set up too. We are trying to find the right combination of songs for this tour. Our last national tour with Vast kind of forced us to play slightly less agro than we're used to. Crime, Sometimes, Cruel, etc.. were the flavor of the Vast tour. This time around, we're touring with Diecast (METALCORE, with flavor...) and Sevendust (duh.) which makes our set list a bit stronger. we are actually the least heavy band on this tour so we can pretty much bring our heaviest songs to the table. People seem to really love 'The Absence', 'Bodies For Freedom', 'Unlucky Stars', and 'Best Part of Me'. A bands goal is to deliver the most powerful set as possible, while still staying true to your fans favorite songs AND trying out new stuff. This can be tricky at home but on the road no one knows us that well and we have a clean slate with them.
Last thought. If anyone is so inclined, please follow our posted tour schedule and find the rock stations where we're headed, and call em! All radio stations seem to have killer websites with streaming audio, events and calendars, and some sort of hot-chick oriented viewage. we are going to have a comprehensive list of all the stations that play us on our site soon so you can visit them and hear what other rock markets sound like. This is a great way for rock fans to reach out and tell radio who they want to hear and force them to bring on new bands! That's all for now.
