Current mood: numb
Been a while since I've posted, figured now would be as good as time as any...
Since last we tuned in, I was just inducted into the Rochester, Pro Wrestling Hall Of Fame. Since then, we have moved to a new location at The German House, a venue rich in wrestling history, where not only has NWA upstate been througfh there, but also 2CW, RPW, and NEW. Great place, lousy as far as parking goes, but eventually we'll be able to work that out.
I was fortunate enough to induct me mentors, WWWF stars The Psychos, into the RPWHOF this past May at out Anniversary Annarchy show. Obviously, the fans really haven't heard much about them, because I heard a lot of rude comments and remarks made during the induction. Here's a brief history:
-trained under former WWWF legend Jose Estrada in NYC
-wrestled in the WWWF under Rochester legend and HOF Gorilla Monsoon at The DOme Arena in the late 70s, early 80s before WWWF went to Rochester War Memorial.
-wrestled many past superstars such as the aforementioned Gorilla Monsoon, Dominic Denucci, Mr. Saito, Mr. Fuji, The Moondogs, The Blackjacks, SD Jones, The Executioners, and others.
-also wrestled in Mexico, Japan, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
-more or less got Rochester wrestling going by purchasing one of the WWWF rings and began doing shows around the Rochester area, including Watertown, Dansville, Buffalo, Niagra Falls, Geneva, Canandaigua, and Penn Yan, as well as parts of Canada.
-not only did they train me, they also had a hand in training owner, tag champion, and good friend Hellcat.
Recently got done with shows at Monroe County Fair and Livingston County Fair, although I couldn't hang around long enough for the Livingston County one. I've got to be honest, we were treated a lot better in Caledonia than we did in Rochester. MCF we get stuck in the open with no tent to protect the ring, no dressing room (used the back of the truck), and poor timing as far as the shows went (urban dance off going on during our shows, killed the crowd and commentary during the tv tapings. LCF put us in one of their pavillions to keep the ring dry, bleachers were brought in for the fans, a dry area to change, and accessibility to our cars by along us to park inside the fair inself, and not out along with the rest of the parking area.
There was a pretty good reason for my not being able to attend the LCF show, my mother was placed in a hospital the night before with blood clots in her leg and was kept there overnight for observation. They had her on multiple medications and blood thinner to dissolve the clots, and she was released the following day. She still has to be on blood thinner for a while, but things are looking ok so far. I'd like to thank everyone who has sent well wishes and kept her in their prayers during that bit of time. Didn't do me a lot of good, I was finding it hard to get any sleep at all while she was there, worrying to much...
Been catching a few NEW shows the past few months, shows are looking really good. A couple of my good friends recently retired this summer, JP Black and Eric Everlast. Although I wasn't able to make Eric's final match, I did make it for JP's match against "Big Rig" Brodie Lee. Match was phenominal, to say the least. Back and forth action the entire match, kept the crowd into it the whole time, something you really don't see that much anymore, whether it's indies or big leagues. Only match I can think of that topped that was Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania25. It was quite a sight when the entire NEW locker room emptied during the match and showed their support for both combatants, and the proper sendoff for JP at the end of the show by filling the ring, both NEW stars and any of the Upstate stars that were in attendance. Maybe next year JP could be inducted into the RPWHOF along with the other stars and fans.
On the personal side, things haven't really changed much for me. Been doing karaoke every weekend after accepting a dare from former ECW and WWE star Coling Delany. Thanks, Colin... lol. Funny thing is, most people wouldn't do this unless they were pretty much inebriated, but as ost people who know me know I don't drinkl anymore, so I'm pretty much sober when I'm up there. After trial and error, I've found a few songs that fit my repertoire. Also met a beautiful bartender there who also happens to be on MySpace as well. Small world...
Met a few other women, but been getting shafted by a lot of them. I thought men were bigger bullshit artists, guess I was wrong. I've learned that anyone who states that they don't want drama or playing games are guilty of what they're preaching. Really hurt my feelings, not sure what to do now... Suggestions?
To wrap this one up for now, this next part will probably be the hardest to write. The past couple weeks I've had a few doctor appointments, the chiropractor and the cardiologist. According to my chiropractor, my neck muscles are getting really tight and prohibits me from turning my head fully. Now I'll be going in monthly for electric stimulation in my neck as well as my back. Starting to feel like Frankenstein's monster at timies, don't be surprised if the next time you see me I'll be wearing bolts in my neck.
As for the cariologist, this is the tough one. After undergoing a stress test and ultrasound to check on my heart (for those that don't know, I have mitro-prolapse valve, or a heart murmur), they did the exams and checked everything fully., Now a mitro-prolapse valv is where the valve in your heart isn't closing fully when blood is pumped through, so there was concern that if I put too much exertion to my heart, it could result in an expansion of my heart, causing either a massive heart attack or stroke. After going over all the results, the doctor sat me down and explained everything to me. This is kinda like a good news, bad news type of thing. The good news is that everything still looks the same as when I last saw him. Bad news is (and this is a whopper) that eventually I'll have to go in for surgery to replace the valve. I was also placed under weight restrictions which would prohibit me from lifting anything over 100 pounds.
So, to make a long story short, and this is possibly the hardest thing for me to do, I'll have to retire from active duty in professional wrestling due to health reasons. I don't exactly want to go out like Eddie Guerrero or Brian Pillman, so as of May 2010, I will be retiring at NWA New York's Anniversary Anarchy 6. I figured I resumed my wrestling career at the anniversary show, I'll finish it my way against an opponent of my choosing. Already have one in mind, just need to in touch with him.
I'll still be around at the New York and NEW shows, but it's going to hurt a lot knowing I'll never be able to compete at the level I'd like to again. The office is going to work with me in learning how to do promoting and possilbly booking, we'll see how it goes after this.
Until next time, and there will be a next time, take care, and Peace...
