Hi, Martin and Aidan here. We have been composing brand new songs of late, and one of them will feature in a brand new movie.... see below. A "Whiskey River Boys" (just we two) album will be released sometime later this year, featuring several self-penned numbers. We are in the midst of writing, recording and mixing as we go along. Now, back to that movie. "Avoiding Christian Bale", an off-beat comedy will be launched at the "Raindance Film Festival" in London in May 2009. We are scheduled to perform at the launch party. Our original composition, "Depression Blues" is a "new song with an old feel", demonstrating some wry humour woven into the lyrics. I am led to believe that the director described our track as "perfect for the scene". I want to see it now! www.avoidingchristianbale.com I have recently have become an affiliate and also become sponsored by "C. A. Seydell Sohne", the world's oldest harmonica company (Est., 1847) to present a series of six internet harmonica lessons, commencing on April 22nd 2009 at 4.00 pm. They will be broadcast live by BRFM radio, a community radio station with a global internet presence which regularly pushes at the boundaries and is always seen to support live music. The programmes will also be repeat broadcast over a twelve week period, also being available via BRFM's "broadcast vault". Not only can you hear the lessons on the radio, but you can view the lessons via a webcam link. Marvelous. www.brfm.co.uk I will be using Seydel harmonicas to teach the learners in the studio. Every learner in the studio (seven complete beginners) will use a Seydel, and we will be giving out these wonderful harmonicas to lucky prize winners every week. Seydel harmonicas are hand-build, hand-tuned, very reponsive and aesthetically pleasing. I am enjoying playing all my new Seydels! If you want one too, enabling you to join in these free internet harmonica lessons at home, then visit; http://www.motagator.net/bands/9/blog.php Simply click the Seydel logo. Before you click that link however, just "stick around a while" on our motagator site. It's really is well-worth the visit. I will say no more."The Whiskey River Boys Cajun Quartet" is on the road over the next few days, playing Cajun gigs firstly in Derby and then down-town Hereford. We'd love to see you there. The "Cajun UK"'s dances in Darley Abbey, Derby are well-established events. We look forward to our Derby gig on Saturday 18th April, seeing all our good friends from the east midlands, an area I know well. The Farmers' Club in Hereford next Friday, 24th April 2009 will be a fabulous event. This gig is a brand new, self-promoted event, including a user-friendly beginners cajun dance workshop. The night features a Live band, namely "THE WHISKEY RIVER BOYS CAJUN QUARTET", a proper dance floor, a Licenced Bar, a Beginners Cajun Dance workshop from "Gloucester's finest" namely Martyn and Gill from "Cajuns a la Fontaine", free multi-story car parking less than twenty yards away and all for £7.50 per person. Can't fault it. Our good friend and co-promotor of the Hereford cajun event David has unfortunately been in hospital for a couple of days (get well soon "Butty Bach") but has that stopped him selling tickets? HAH! Remarkably enough, it hasn't. He's been selling tickets to the nurses and arranged that his friends visit him in hospital to buy even more tickets! He deserves a medal. Come at 7.30 pm if you want get in. Some tickets available on the door; everything starts at 8.00 pm sharp... it will probably sell out, so don't miss it.Finally, do you want to learn how to play celtic session music, but you find yourself lacking experience, tunes and confidence? If so, I can help. The Park Hotel, Pandy, a lovely 18th century venue between Abergavenny and Hereford hosts my six week "session" workshops, commencing at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 22nd April and on for the following five weeks. Bring a D whistle, D & G harmonicas, guitars, bodhrans, spoons, your singing voice and £48.00 for the whole course and I will teach you all you need to know to get you started. No more will you gaze longingly at the "inner circle" of your pub session, wishing... I will show you how. You can do it!Need more information about any of the above? Please contact me at info@whiskeyriver.co.uk"Keep it live!"Aidan
