Save Eric's Life:  NO MORE RED TAPE campaign

There are times when ideas for change in the US become an immediate race for life.  This is a call to not just support "reform," but save an American man's life now.  Eric De La Cruz's death should not happen on our watch, to one of our citizens in this country. Before it is too late, we can stand up and say that a life is more important than insurance company paydays and hospital red tape. Our advocacy can cut the red tape.

No More Red Tape. Let them hear your voice.  Two steps!

1) Learn

You can view the coverage of Eric De La Cruz on ABC on the video below.

This is the epitome of dysfunction of our healthcare system.  Eric needs a heart transplant and has Medicaid.  He obviously does not have private insurance because of the pre-existing condition.  Nevada does not have any transplant centers.  He can live through transport to nearby California's transplant centers of UCLA, Stanford or USC.  Despite the $700,000.00 his courageous family raised and Medicaid, these hospitals require supplimental insurance which he can not access because of the pre-existing condition.

2) Email and call

We can cut the red tape!  Our goal is to get him into one of the hospitals in southern California where he will live through transport, namely UCLA.  Visit the NO MORE RED TAPE campaign on Change.org.  Personalize the letter and it will send it out to UCLA, Obama and your House and Senate representatives.

What a heartbreakingly tragic story and sad example of our broken system! Something needs to be done! Thank you so much for posting your blog on Eric! Many Blessings Tammy

It is heartbreaking.  What kills me is that even though the family has ran it to the last possible breath, enlisted Nine Inch Nails and Tony Hawk to raise tons of money, the hospital can just sit there asking for more insurance.  Few families can go out and get stars to raise funds anyway! This needs to end now!!
