The first match was a good opener, with Go Shiazaki versus Delirious. Some good comedy spots with Delirious telling the ref to DQ go if he gets chopped. My favorite spot was Go’s counter to Delirous back splash with a stiff superkick. Crowd popped big for that one.
The next match was the six man tag match of the YRR, which consists of The YRR of Kenny King, Sal Rinauro, and Chasyn Rance vs. Dingo, Bushwhacker Luke, and Alex "Sugarfoot" Payne. It was a good match, not great, but still entertaining. Funny spots galore with bushwhacker Luke.
The next match was the ROH Tag Team Title match. No Remorse Corps members, Davey Richards and Rocky Romero defend their belts agains the Vulture squad of Ruckus and a de masked Jigsaw. Lenny Leonard came out and informed us that this match would be taped for the next ROH ppv, "Take no Prisoners". The crowd got fired up and they filmed a bit for the next ROH video wire.
This match was awesome as well, though it was a bit short. A lot of crazy spots in this one, with Ruckus doing his usual innovative moves along with jigsaw. They did my favorite double team move of theirs, the rolling fisherman buster into a sit down powerbomb! Another awesome spot was Jigsaw going to finish the match with the Jig-N-Tonic on Rocky, but got a superkick from Davey into yoshitonic from Rocky! I was at the taping of the PPV a few weeks ago in Philly and I must say that the PPV is going to be one of their best. Make sure you rent it when it comes out, I think in late May.
After the match, Larry Sweeney and the Sweet and Sour Inc make their way to the ring. Larry has an awesome theme song, very Ted Dibiase like. Larry Sweeney confronts Rocky and Davey to join the sweet and sour inc. They seem interested until Roderick comes out and tells Larry Sweeney to stick it, and get the hell out of here.
The next match was an epic brawl between Roderick strong and Erick Stevens. These guys just hate the crap out of each other and beat the hell out of each other. It wasn’t even a match as the ref was knocked out by both guys. The ref never recovered, haha. This was their best match, IMO. It had everything, stiff strikes, brutal wrestling moves, spots using chairs. Both men were bleeding badly and the end came when the rest of the NRC came down and laid a beat down on Erick Stevens. All three men end up shaving Stevens’ Mohawk. Delirous and some ROH students come out too late for the save. Stevens and Roderick will have a FIP title match at the next FIP show in Florida.
Another Epic brawl with Age of the Fall: Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler black (accompanied by gothic Lacey and gothic Rain) against the Briscoe Brothers in a relaxed rules match. Lacey and Rain look dam good with their gothic outfits. Rain being there was a pleasant surprise. The match was another awesome brawl which saw them wrestle all over the arena. Most of the times, we couldn’t see what the hell was going on, especially the spot where Mark Briscoe took an insano dive from top the entrance to someone through a table. I was marking out big time for the age of the fall, but they kept getting pummeled. Which made Drew happy, as hes a big time Briscoe mark. Haha. But I was estactic when Jimmy Jacobs reveresd the doomsday device into the end times for the win. I marked out big time! Sorry, drew. : P
During intermission, I walked to the Dragon Gate merchandise table and bought a dragon gate towel. It was one of the last 3, glad I got it then and not at the end of the show as I was planning to do. Toni looked like he was having a good time, he kept talkinga bout the crazy briscos. Think we made a new ROH fan out of him.
After intermission, we get the tag match I was waiting for a while. It’s a Dragon Gate vs. Ring of Honor challenge match. Kevin Steen/ El Generico versus BxB Hulk and Shingo. I was so excited, ive been a fan of BxB Hulk for a while and getting the chance to see him wrestle live is awesome. In case you don’t know, BxB Hulk he has this Japanese pop star gimmick, he comes out with these extravagant entrances with background dancers and everything. Check out the youtube video of one of his entrances.
Hes not all flash though; he is one of the best high flyers in the wrestling biz today. BxB came out and did his dance routine, but he didn’t have his dancers with him. Kevin Steen didn’t want to get outdone by BxB’s dancing, decided to dance a bit too. It was hilarious. The tag match did not disappoint, hell, it surpassed my expectations. This match is one of the many reasons to buy the dvd.
Next up is the ROH world title match of Nigel McGuinness defends his title agains Austin Aries. I havent seen their last match at the last ppv, but I will say that this was the best match ive seen with these two. Nigel played the heel champion perfectly and beat up Austin every chance he go, but Austin didn’t quit. Man a few times, me, drew, and Tony (along with the whole arena) marked out cause we though Austin would win it. But in the end Nigel showed us why hes ROH champ and deserves to be.
After the match, Age of the fall come out and try to recruit Austin into their group. Lacey offers up her services and the two begin to leave the ring, until Sunny came out. She wants to be Austin’s manager and offered again, but he turned her down and left with Lacey. The Age of the fall now confront Sunny and hold her down while Rain slaps the taste out of Sunny’s mouth. Briscoes make the save and a catfight ensues between Rain and Sunny. Could this be lead to Sunny managing the Briscoes?
And now the main event, the Dragon Gate six man tag. The Muscle Outlaws of Genki Horiguchi, Naruki Doi, and Masato Yoshino versus Typhoon of Ryo Saito, Dragon Kid, and CIMA in a Dragon Gate. Words cannot describe this match, they pulled out all kinds of double team, triple team, double rubble moves, and all kinds of insanity. Very high paced match and I wished it went on for ever. In fact near the end of the match, people started chanting, "PLEASE DON’T STOP! PLEASE DON’T STOP!" Another match that makes this dvd a must buy.
All of the wrestlers stayed in the ring and thanked all the fans, it was awesome. While people were leaving the arena, I made my way to the Dragon gate merch table cause I saw BxB hulk signing things. Im so pissed I didn’t take my camera! Dumb ROH for not letting digital cameras in the arena. But I said hello and shook his hand, and he signed my towel. Right after he signed the rest of the dragon gate wrestlers came out to the table, I ended up getting Ryo Saito, Naruki Doi, Dragon Kid, Masato Yoshino and BxB Hulk’s autograph on the towel. What an awesome souvenir. They were all very polite, spoke a little English, and were awesome.

While waiting for our ride to come get us, me Drew, and Tony encountered crazy bums asking for money, a crazy woman driving down the street crying cause she was lost, and various dumb asses wearing suits with replica championship belts. Next to the arena was the WWE Hall of fame show, and people were coming out. There were these two douches walking around in full suits while wearing championship belts. They were strutting around like they defeated somebody for those belts, where in reality the only thing they beat up was their keyboard while punching their credit card numbers on highspots.com.
Austin Aries was leaving the arena and we said hello, he was nice as well. Told him great match tonight and he thanked us and wished us safe travels. Tony was shocked by how approachable the wrestlers were. Right before we left, the bum that asked us for money earlier, drove by in a convertible brand new car. We seriously lolled at that shit.
Daisy came and we went home talking about the show non stop. We stopped at wendys for a very late night dinner, where Daisy ordered her "Cheese sawsce" with her fries, and headed home.
Part 3 of my blog will entail a trip to a mall, with one of the best comic shops ive been too and a cool anime shop.
