It's always been such a bittersweet thing when people come up to me at shows, on the street, wherever, and ask me where or when they can buy an album, a song, any kind of music of mine. On one hand I'm so honored and ecstatic that people want to hear me in their car, earbuds and living room! On the other hand my heart drops when I have to say 'I actually don't have anything to sell.' Well, I finally got tired of the heart-dropping and got my ass into gear! I've been at work in the studio and will be releasing my first studio EP in the spring of 2009.
Hearing some of the first few songs that are coming out of Sven-Erik Seaholm's magic machine, I decided I couldn't wait that long to let some of it out. So, starting November 23, 2008 I will be selling what will be the 'single' off of the EP at shows and online through digital download cards. And here is where it gets fun. Everybody's seen these download cards, where you get a code, take it home, redeem the card, and download the music, then throw the card onto the pile of 'I don't know where that goes' on your bedroom floor. I decided to give you something else to do with that card. F-ing grow flowers with it! Yep check it: Packaging will include a seeded download card, a pot and soil!

Even though we're calling it a 'single' download, you'll actually be getting two tracks. In addition to 'No One,' from the upcoming EP, the download card will also get you the oh-so-educational tune 'No Better Time.' In case you haven't experienced 'No Better Time,' I think it is best described as an ode to everyone's favorite before-you-and-the-other-get-out-of-bed activity.*** This will be available only through this download card and will not be included in the EP (a request from my sweet Southern father that I understandingly had to promise to oblige to).
**Don't download this song if you're under 16, easy to offend, or strongly celibate.
So there it is folks, 2 songs and the soil and pot to plant them in, all for just $5!!! I will be selling them at shows starting with the big PARTAY on November 23 at Backstage at The Bitter End. Allegra and Megan Combs will kick off the night and I will go on at 11 pm. For the first time ever I will be accompanied by a mini-band! The amazingly talented Robin Henkel will be lending me some crazy bass while Mitch Budd will be giving us sweet beats on the cajon.
