2009 was a year where the sound of Gareth Emery continued to scale new heights, thanks to a packed DJ diary and the launch of his new record label and club night Garuda, responsible for numerous chart-topping releases and sold out superclubs. Now he’s rounding off the year with his new compilation, a 2xCD mix album, which as the title suggests, is all about the sound of Garuda.
CD1, entitled ‘2010’, is all about the future, an exquisite showcase of records you can expect to be big next year. Expect exclusive never-before heard bombs from Gareth himself as well as a number of his favourite producers, including Pulser, Beltek, Be:Gold, Ben Preston, Ali Wilson, plus Ashley Wallbridge and Activa, both of whom hit the studio to contribute exclusive remixes of their tracks to introduce and close the CD.
CD2, entitled ‘2009’, is a retrospective of the biggest Emery tracks of the past year, featuring the best and brightest records from his own sets and the Garuda club nights. Here you’ll find some of the biggest Emery productions of year which will have those smoke and laser filled club memories flooding back (Exposure / Metropolis / Lonely Girl) , as well as two of his infamous bootlegs which until now have never been available for purchase.
In short, ‘The Sound Of Garuda’ is a stunning journey through some of the classier sounds of trance and progressive, and will leave you in absolutely no doubt why Gareth Emery had such a good year in 2009.
