Well it's nearly over (the year that is - no us!). The lead up to xmas was hectic. Last minute shopping was hell on earth. Me and Jake met up but it ended with us in the city cafe on a whisky mission. The night before xmas eve was braw. We all hooked up with Vic Galloway and went to see We See Lights at Leith Dockers, which turned out to be far better than I expected. I was told they were going to be playing xmas songs, and to be honest I'd heard enough xmas songs already, so the thought of some indie bands playing loads of covers in a folk stylee seemed a bit daunting, but it turned out they wrote their own xmas songs especially for the night, and immediately I loved it.
Somehow thieves in suits got split up during the night, I ended up heading off into the night with Vic telling me how good the new Franz Ferdinand album is and Paul asking him why we weren't in his 35 bands to watch out for in 2009 (his reason? he only puts bands in it that he's seen live, and we've so far eluded him on the live front). Jake? in good ol Jake style,  ended up back at one of We See Lights flat , singing mariah carey like only jake does best.

And so to New Years Eve. I will be having a quiet one in my favourite little bar Boda on Leith Walk, with plenty of whisky and good cheer. I won't be brazing the freezing bastard cold and standing in the gardens watching bands. After 10 months of standing watching bands in soundchecks and gigs, the last thing I want to do on N.Y.E is stand outside watching bands. No fuck that. The only bands I might watch will be on Jools hootenanny, from the warth and comfort of my wee flat. I hear the hold steady and dizzee rascal are on, might be fun. Jake and Paul?
I have no idea, you'd have to ask them.

So in good old looking back at the year fashion here's a shout out to people who have said nice things about us, played us, played with us, gave us a good gig, wrote stuff about us, inspired us, told us that were shit, whatever. May they all have a wonderfully 2009:

ROSS MACGOWAN at CHIME  because these guys wouldn't have played us without his help in the studio - Vic Galloway, Tom Robinson, Jim Gellatly, Steve Lamacq. All the podcasts, Rick Fulton (for our first bit of press) Badges For Bands (legends)
The Chapman Family (we love you) Meursault - Neil/Fraser/Chris et al, LIMBO, Black Spring DJS, Ella & Flora, Lana, Louvegas, GRV, Solen at cab vol, BLACK TAPE, Steven at DIRTY HEARTS, St Judes Infirmary (great band nice guys), Found (ditto), THE ARC for our lovely wee rehearsal room and CHOW for his quote of the year regarding music: "I like either really really loud, or really really quiet. Nothing in between" , Lefty McDuff - for just being The Mcduffer,
Photographers like Cristiaan Howlett, the chick at The Voodoo Rooms, Jennifer Baker and Miss Polish lady that I've forgotten the name of. shit.
Ross Clarke for being a fucking mentalist and snoring all the way home from Aberdeen, Pivo Pivo, The Wee Red Bar, Colvin, Concetta, People we have borrowed shit from like cars, leads, deodorant, whisky and everyone who likes what we do and gives us loads of love and says disgustingly nice things about us.
sorry if I missed anyone!

WE THANKYOU ALL.

We look forward to a barack led 2009-an e.p, an album, t-shirts, gigs, tour, more suits, some screaming dancing girls, some screaming dancing boys, flying drumsticks,

I would personally like to say cheers to Paul and especially Jake who I appreciate all he does more than I would actually tell him to his face. :D

I think I'm going to go for a wee cry now....

ALL THE BEST EVERYONE.
