hey there. my band broke up. while i am usually one of colorful details, i am instead going to post this bulletin i sent out earlier this morning from the central standard site, to fill you in a bit. then i am going to cuddle with my dogs and watch the rest of this beastie boys video and fall asleep hopefully at some point. i have a meeting to go to at 9am. ouch. then bike riding with maren at 10:30am and then coffee with my friend john at 1pm. full day and another sleepless night. i look forward to elaborating on this later. and am curious to read your comments. here it is, all cutted and pastey. mmm. paste.
May 11, 2007 1:42 AM tour did us in. it's official. good-bye and thank you.
hello all. lisa here.
i don't usually do the writing from this page, scotty does, but wanted to send out a very sad announcement.
and that is this. central standard is no more. we are officially broken up.
we did a midwest tour in april 2007 that was one part success and one part too much. so we have called it quits. thanks so much to all our friends family and fans for the love and support. and thanks to all the awesome bands that played shows and all the venues that welcomed us! we appreciate you all. personally, i want to thank tages, scotty and justin for thier creativity, friendship, and time. you challenged me, taught me a lot and i had a lot of fun. you guys are all awesome. collaborating is hard. 5 people and a dog in a van for two weeks is hard. we survived and now it's time to move on.
with endings come new beginnings!
tages, who taught me what emo was by making me an emo mix cd, so i could write lyrics to her amazingly written guitar for shallow offers (damn i'm gonna miss playing that)- run on sentence has a solo project called GEEKS IN TOWN you should most definately check out. she has a new myspace page with a few songs up... no shows posted yet... "i write sad songs, i'm not necessarily sad i just like to write about being sad and having my heart broken." go check it out http://www.myspace.com/geekintown
justin and I (lisa) are continuing as Hey There Cowboy and are writing new material - and looking for a permanent guitarist and bassist. there are three shows (2 on june 24th pride wknd - at loring park and Pi - and one outdoors on july 5th) we will be playing that were booked pre-breakup, and we will keep those shows - performing some central standard material and other surprises. joe holland will be guesting those shows on guitar and we will feature other guest musicians at those shows.
and to avoid confusion, hey there cowboy is not a name change for central standard as it was originally intended. it's justin and lisa temporarily with cs material, and it will be evolving into it's own new beast.
scotty is taking a breather but will clearly continue to reign as the hottest queer bassist the earth has to offer. he founded this band. he fucking rocks. his next project will be most awesome.
thanks again everyone. lisa cowboy ganser
