King’s Dance
Louis XIV, the King of France, was famously known for his love of dance. (Hmm, that rhymes.) He even practiced three hours daily preparing to play the role of Apollo, giving him the nickname ..Sun King... However, King Yeonsan of Joseon Dynasty had just as much love for dancing a full 150 years before King Louis XIV. He was especially interested in a dance called Cheoyongmu, a dance used in ceremonial and religious rites. It has been recorded that the king often staged the dance for days and nights in the Royal Palace, simply for his pleasure.
