gosh it has been great playing with you all.

A special place in my heart for Harley James on pedal steel guitar, Kevin Healy on the tasty fiddle licks, Dale Turnbull on bass and Sean Oldham - I love it when you play suitcase as your kick drum!

The session players this summer - Chris Miller on guitars, Lex Browning on fiddle, Dave Provost also on bass - y'all are my heros.

I've got something to learn by being here in Tennessee, but I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you that I've gotten to play with, learn from and have a great time with in Oregon.

thanks to Lonesome Wally, the lovely Marilee Hord also, Jeff Evans, and of course, Dylan-Thomas Vance.

Maybe my greatest advantage in the longevity I've had in music (since 1955) and in Nashville (since 1965) has been my sense of direction, Miss Jessica, which I see you share.  There were all these admonitions concerning vertical success ("Be careful who you step on when you climb the ladder, as they may step on you on your way down," etc.), but I wasn't nearly as concerned about CLIMBING as I was in spreading horizontally.  Yep, there's nowhere left but down when you're at the top, but when you're "out there" amongst the many, you can just keep on moving!!!  So success ain't a ladder; it's a system of circles.  You seem to have a thorough grasp of that and it's a hoot for us to connect literally as you move here.  Thanks again, Bret!!!
