There are some people who pass through this world who are so unique and special they defy description and Norton Buffalo was one of those people. There will never be another Norton. For 34 years Norton was my partner in harmony and a principle soloist in the Steve Miller Band. He gave more than he took and brightened the world whenever he played his harmonica or sang a song. He went out with his boots and spurs jangling', he had a unique and wonderful musical voice and had love in his heart for everyone he met.

Thank you Buffalo for the love and beautiful music and if you don't see me in heaven, I'll be in hell… Put in a good word for me please and be sure to say hi to Les Paul and T Bone Walker from all the guys in the band. So long partner, rest in peace, I love you dearly and hate to see you go.

Steve Miller

This is lovely as whom I really came to be the gifted ones about and with Norton. You are certainly one of them. I met him when I was around 15-16 of age and Livin' in The Valley of The Moon. You won't be in HELL. We will all be in heaven together and rockin', playin' and having many miles of smiles! .. And hearts in our .. of Diamonds. NB. He is missed but not gone~

So sorry to hear about your loss. I too just lost someone close to me. It is very hard to let go of somebody as special as they are.

..In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

..

Steve,

I never had the opportunity to meet you, but I knew Norton well.  He called me when you last played in Tulsa and invited us to come over from Fayetteville.  He looked wonderful, the show was soulful and there was electricity in the air.  We were running late due to traffic in Tulsa, so I only spoke to him for a minute on the side of the stage.  Norton lit up your stage with his presence.   The last thing I saw him do?  Blow us a kiss....(just like Norton...always caring about others before himself).  We should all be more like him.  My heart is breaking as I know yours is since he must have been like a brother to you.  We will all see him on the other side....

Take care,

Susan

A side note...I did terrible all weekend with the news of Norton's passing.  I'm one to go to bed and pull the comforter over my head.  I finally got out after 2 days of being a recluse and ran errands today.  I was coming out of an appointment and I turned on my car and what was playing on the radio?  "Fly Like An Eagle."  It started the minute I turned my car on.  My thought?  It was Norton telling me to move on and be positive and that he is okay.  I'm going to brush off and try to be a bit better tomorrow.  I suppose it is all part of the grieving process.  Much love to you guys and thanks for having me as your guest through Norton.  He always made us feel special, especially my 16 year old daughter.  She thought he was a true delight like all of us and took some amazing photos of the band.  Be safe.....xxoo
