"The Boy Who Passed ME"
Written By: D.Jessop
On the TV screen it shows flashy models, brilliant smiles and fancy things. A little girl watches bewild, amazed in awe, at all these things. She goes to her room, looks in the mirror but doesnt see the same thing on TV. She see's a nose too big, rough complexion, stubby legs and crooked teeth
Days go on, years have passed, now this girl is thirteen. Boys arent yuck, instead she has a crush but wonders why he doesnt notice me. She goes to her parents looks for advice, "We need a roof over our head and food to eat!" So she turns on the TV. There it is again, "Of course! Thats why he doesnt notice me." Eyeliner, lipstick, gets fixed up. Dressed to kill, next day she heads off. She walks into school, "He's right there!" He walks by but dont even stop. She turns around heart smashed to pieces. Sees him approach a girl more fancy. She runs to the bathroom, looks at herself. What once was beautiful now seems trashy. "Look at yourself!" She says, "Of course he isnt gonna notice me! Wrong color of lipstick, needa lose this weight. No wonder why he doesnt notice me."
Days go on, years have passed. That one little girl is now a woman of class. While riding the trax, rummaging through her bag. She looked up and noticed a couple. The lady's dressed with all the fad's, jewelry and tan, but see's they both seemed troubled. "Your full of yourself!" The lady's appalled, argument heard in whispers. She cant help but to feel because this lady's appeal she's trapped in like shes a prisoner. She thinks of the past and remembers that day, she did her best to look flashy. Remembers the work she put in but to no avail. "The Boy Just Went Pass Me."
Days go on, she is now a mom, and see's her daughter dressing real nice. She says "Pardon the invasion but what's the occasion?" the daughter says "Theres this boy I like." She says, "Nowadays image is everything. Not like you and Dad back in the day." The mother smiles, says "Really, child? Sit down theres much to explain." She tells her the story of "The Boy Who Passed Me." Talks of all the work and disappointment in having faith in all things fancy. She says, "Outside beauty diminishes, what's inside will always grow. If you know who you are inside, then outside it will show!"
