	Simple Thoughts	Its not that bad its as small as a grain of rice and actually saves thousands of animals Lets say you lose your cat and he/she is registered as being chipped well if he is taken to a shelter or a vet they will contact you and you can get your pet back. Stolen dog? Well if he is chipped and registered and the the thief takes him to the vet, phone call to you. This has been happening for a long time now, its actually a really good idea. As far as chipping your kids, thats not really something that will happen in the near future they would start with criminal first. Also you have a choice, you can always say...no I do not want my animal chipped or kid for that matter. 	RudeBwoy : Dis and Dead, Respect and Live!	Sounds like they fed you a little misinformation. It is a microchip but what they do is not track... They scan like a barcode. If your pet is picked up by Animal Control or by an individual and brought to a shelter they check your pet for this microchip. If they have one they will contact your Vet and the Vet will contact you. There is NO GPS conducted by shelters. If you are rich you may have GPS put in your pet but this is at the owner's discretion. County Animal Shelters do not do that. So uhhhhhhhh.... Yeah! 	Shaun Shaun Spohn	The RFID tags they stick in pets are passive. They aren't radio active and don't emit radiation. They also have a special coating so they won't react with with the surrounding tissue. They're about as safe to have in the body as an artificial joint, which are used in humans all the time with no issues or rejection problems. Reports of tumors forming around the insertion site are bogus. The tags only respond with a weak field when it passes through an activating em field. You walk through the activation fields every time you enter and exit a store. That's what those scanner stands do... It's not likely your pets ever walks through scanners like that so if there was a health problem caused by the scanners, you'd be the one suffering, not your pet. The chip is actually safer than a collar with a tag on it... Collars get lost, or sometimes caught on things and pets choke to death.... I'd put a chip in my kid too. If they get knocked out somewhere and don't have ID on them I'd like to know they can figure out who the kid is at the hospital and call me..
