I noticed the other day that literally right inside the Western Union where I cash my checks there's a stand that sells gold watches, jewelery and "bling", fitted hats, prepaid minute cards, and "$100 bill" cell phone cases.  Now, is it just me, or could the symbolism not be anymore fucking obvious?

It's as if the very second you cash your hard earned checks there's some douche bag waiting there to suck up all your money for urban frivolties and shit you don't really need.

But, you can't fault these people (well, not all the time, anyway) because while they may be exploitative assholes most of the time they're not exactly wealthy themselves and are only seeing an infintesimal portion of the profits that companies that sell this useless shit to them for resale are making.

It's the idiots who buy this shit who need to be slapped.

Or perhaps it's the urban advertising industry that works in tandem with a crooked ass capitalist government that puts ads in front of us before we've even entered grade school telling us we won't be cool unless we buy this useless shit.  Maybe they need a bitch slap.

Or perhaps I'm just overthinking this whole thing.

But I doubt it.

Not really. It makes sense. People these days are blinded by the media, so much so that they don't know how to be themselves, and grow up only 1/3 of what they could be.
