If you look at the -Nebres- card in the Chaotic card set, folks are wondering why the art credit says "Ed's Friends."

I was saving the story for when I started up my Chaotic behind-the-scenes blog, but since my buddy Emilio Lopez pulled the trigger, I'll also tell it to you now.

My (and many others) buddy Ed Nebres is one of the best artists I know.  In addition to working on Chaotic cards and many other shows, I believe he is the only one who has worked on the original TMNT and the new TMNT. 
He's also a great game player - videogames and card games.  You will not beat him in Yugioh.  You have no chance.

Sadly, about a year ago, he suffered a stroke.  One of the saddest times in my life.  Luckily, he was quickly taken to the hospital and received prompt medical attention. 

I remember that night getting a phone call and rushing over to the emergency room.  I got to see him for a little bit that night - he was saying how it sucked but he felt more guilty that I had to trek out at night to come see him.  That's how great he is.  Plus the fact that his heart rate monitor will start beeping really fast whenever a hot girl walks by - I'm telling you, heart monitors are the perfect lie detectors.

As a life-long gamer, we figured that the best way to cheer him up when he recovered was to design a card based on him.  Me and Martin Rauff discussed some ideas, and I got permission from the higher-ups at 4Kids to create a card just for him.  Every creature in that card was drawn by a different artist - in and outside 4Kids, but everyone one of us loves Ed.  I wrote the flavor text because, well, I suck at drawing.

I saw Ed during Thanksgiving time.  He's doing a lot better, and he's improving each and every day. 
He also showed me the Sam Shady wrestling character he made for Smackdown vs Raw 2009 - it's hot, son!  I have my own theme song, pyrotechnics and everything!

So that's the story.  That's why -Nebres- is not only my most favorite card, but it also holds a special place in a lot of our hearts.

To Emilio - how dare you ruin my surprise!
But you know what?  It's good that he did, or else, this story may never have been told.
