Current mood: angry
The concession stands. Just 2 1/2 innings into the historic 3rd game of the Pirates vs Yankees series in Pittsburgh (The Yankees havent played here since 1960 and I bet it takes another 48 years to come back) mother nature rained on the parade. Something told us we should have done the standing room only tickets for one of the other games because THEY were beautiful days. So for 2 and half hours they kept people hanging saying they game would resume, then the game wasn't going to resume, repeat. All the while people spending a weeks salary for watered down drinks, piss-water beer, and "wheres the beef" hamburgers. Heaven forbid the concession stands didn't make their money. Never mind the hundreds, in some cases thousands of dollars people shelled out for this game. So they finally called the game, and rescheduled it for July 10th, of course the day I will be in New York (do you sense irony anyone) or you can use it for any other home game. Um, who would waste their time seeing the Pirates unless there was a good reason like a 48 year in the making rematch between these two teams in Pittsburgh? They haven't won anything since the 70's and they're in last place and have gone steadily downhill for the past 15 years. Not to mention that this is also the last year for the Yankees at the old stadium and next year ticket prices which are already ridiculously high, will double. Basically, sports in this country have gone from a "take your kid and have a nice day out" pastime and root for your favorite player/idol to a corporate incentive program and let's bet on which player will leave which team for more money. Thats why fantasy sports are so popular. Theres more coverage given to what players do off the field then when they play. Needless to say, the staff at PNC were about as helpful and empathetic as a kid with a magnifying glass burning ants on the sidewalk. When we asked the man running the ticket booths what we should do, he said "sell them on Stubhub I'm sure you'll find a buyer." @!&$%! They got THEIR moneys worth tonight, so why should they care about the fans from all around that got assed out of this game and might not want to spend another $500.00 plus to come BACK to Pittsburgh for a heaping helping of the "hospitality."
