Today we're doing a spicy Garlic and Onion soup. Soups are probably the easiest thing in the world to do, and broths are likely the easiest of them all. That's right, not doing a cream soup, but something that you could easily whip up, on your own, in a little over an hour... and then turn around and freeze this to use later on. This is straight onion and garlic with some extra kick. If you don't like your soup as spicy, omit the chili powder.
Ingredients: 13 Cups of water 2 mid-size onions 1 full clove of garlic 2 tsp of salt 2 tsp of black pepper 1/2 tsp of chili powder
Fill a large pot with the 13 cups of water. Start the water on high heat and add the salt. Peel the onions and garlic gloves, and cut the onions into 8 wedges. When the water reaches a rolling boil (large bubbles), add the onions and garlic to the pot. Keep on high for 5 minutes, covered. After 5 minutes, bring the heat down to low, and keep the pot covered. Keep the low heat applied for about an hour.
Feel free to stir it up and taste it as you move along, adding any additional spices as you see fit.
