It's really hard to believe, that only a few short months ago, I had the pleasure of hearing "Yellow Envelope" for the first time and was reminded of the amazing artistic ability of Alan Seabourne, and at the same time was introduced to the "holy shit, how does he do that" artist, Alfredo Fappiano.
I must first tell you that I am reminded daily of Alan's musicianship. It was one evening, some sixteen years ago now, that I suffered a tragic injury while sledding at a ski area where Alan's band at the time, Ashes Of the Red Heifer, played in the lodge. So yeah, maybe if Alan never decided to pick up that fuckin' guitar, I 'd still have all my teeth, but I tell you what. It was definitely worth it.
Some fifteen years had passed since I really had any communication with Alan or his music, so I was ecstatic to learn, see, and hear how much his art had progressed.
I told him it was imperative that others heard it too, and so I committed to do everything I possibly could to make it so.
With a whole lot of trial and error I searched far and wide to find a percussionist who could complement these two master bricklayers who already had laid the foundation for something grand who could not be lead astray by a drummer who just did not get it.
That is where Gregg Andrew comes into the picture. I had known him for years, but for whatever reason did not think of him until one day while I was over his house, and played "Yellow Envelope" for him. Immediately he told me he wanted to meet Alan and Alfredo.
"Holy shit Batman!" is an understatement. These three were made for each other... I got a bit too excited and posted rehearsal footage that the group did not feel was good enough for you all to see yet. I totally understand that. Artists rarely will show a piece until it is complete, but if you could see and hear what is coming to a stage near you soon, you would be as amazed as I am. I guarantee it. It is really that sick!
Stayed tuned. This is going to be epic.
As it says in a line of "Marta", "it's time to make some history"...
Thanks,
murray
