Current mood:  busy
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers
Well I've been meaning to write this for a while but kept putting it off and forgot. Next year I will be working as an Intern at Culver Acadamies in Indianna. Culver is a co-ed boarding prep high school, where the guys have a military type of leadership, and the girls are run like an east coast prep school. I went for a tour of the place at the begining of May and I took some pictures: http://waynestate.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2057801&l=90c23&id=25715393

I will be working in the theatre which is nice and large, and gorgeous. It's actually having some dance studios and a shop area added, payed for by George Steinbrenner, owner of the NY Yankees. They have a lot of nice equipment, and I will have to learn how to use Emphasis, a lighting console that includes a 3D cad interface.

As well as working in the theatre I will also be in the theatre classes. Eventually I will be teaching the technical theatre class myself. I can't wait for the opportunity, but I'm also a little apprehensive about it. I'm sure that by the time the class is handed over to me I'll be fine though.

I will also be living in a furnished apartment in the dorms with the students. There will be times when I am the adult in the building. Which will be interesting  having the students come to me if they have problems. This is the part I am least prepared for, having never lived in a dorm enviroment. But its free, and they also provide my meals too which is sweet for my first full time job.

To start off I'm going to go work June 17th in their summer camp program, where there will be 1,700 kids from 9 to 18 year olds. Thats alot more than there will be durring the school year, and a younger age group. I took this option so that I could get used to the space before I was going for the school year, and can't wait for the opportunity.

Lastly I will be missing Kat an awful lot all next year. It'll be hard to want to spend every moment together, but be 5 hours away from each other. I already miss her, because she went home to Kalamazoo, but she's hopefully coming back this weekend to visit. Also I'm going to Kalamazoo to go to a wedding with her and shes going to drive me to Indianna.
