Friends, a hearty hello to all, and many thanks
for lending your eyes and ears to this newsletter, which includes a big
update, and a small request!
As some of you are aware, recently, I entered into an
inspired partnership with the stars, in deciding to take a year-long sabbatical
from my life and times as an independent artist in New York City. In simple, poetic terms, I've traded in the fast-paced hustle
for a slow waltz with creativity. In candid, human terms, I've reached a bit of
a crossroads on the earth-mobile, and have decided to live closer to nature for
a while in order to refuel, recalibrate and recharge the ol' creative batteries. Sometimes,
you just have to let go of everything, to see what you really want to hold on
to. You know?
Evolution is eeeeeeeeeasy....
To kick off this thoughtful adventure, back in June, I placed my
belongings into a concrete box, and have since taken up shop in the soft,
sleepy south. While my pining for the city which never sleeps is eternally
palpable, I must admit, with each setting sun, I'm growing more certain that
the color and pace of life under an open sky is not only more conducive to experiencing creative growth, but to finding some much needed perspective
on the career-shaping front.
EXHIBIT A:

This September, I am going to debut
my very first blog (title TBA), where I plan to chronicle this time of great
discovery. There, I'll offer the real-deal explanation as to why I've taken
this slow-motion detour, and why I've chosen to share the ride with others, via
the written word. I hope you'll take a gander at my missives, and perhaps find
some insight, inspiration, or at least, entertainment, in the observations and
ruminations I shall document in "real" time during this
uncharted voyage. (occasional audio and video clips included.)
In the meantime, I do indeed have a small request, and I'm delighted to tell you
that it's on the passionate music-making - and sharing - front!
In leaving the city for a while, I'm not only able to focus more thoughtfully
on writing and developing songs, but on traveling, and sharing them with
others. Having lowered my overhead by, er...9,000%, I'm now in a position to
forgo the day gig and bring greater attention to booking
shows. I'm excited to let you know that I've chosen to do just that, through one unique and meaningful listening experience, in
particular. Also known as...
Over the course of the next year, I will
be performing house concerts exclusively, throughout the USA and Europe!
EXHIBIT B:
House concerts are incredible. They're also a time-honored tradition designed to bring music lovers up close
and personal with artists and their expression, and vice versa. To learn more
about my new "Song Sweet Song" house concert
initiative, and to find out how you can host (yup!) one of these
extraordinary events, click the image above or the link down below to my
website, where I include the full skinny, along with a
nifty 3-minute promo video. I'm also including below a link to some
logistical info and concert hosting basics!
I've officially launched this "quiet" endeavor with some fantastic
bookings, and am excited to build from there. However, as coordinating
concerts in people's homes involves...well, homes, and people who want to host
concerts in them, I realize that I need to cast my booking net as wide as I
can, to keep this sweet vision alive. And so, I am asking you, dear
friends and soulful readers (if you've come this far, clearly, this is not lip
service) for your help in connecting me to as many happy hosts a girl with a
birdsong to share can find. And yes - this means YOU!
If you'd like join together with friends and experience a
magical night of song in the comfort of your own home, flat, bungalow, tiki
hut, farmhouse or log cabin, or if you know of someone who might, drop me a
line anytime at: info@daniellegasparro.com. I'd love to hear from you. And, sing for you!
The regions/dates I am now booking within the US are (generally) as follows:
SEPTEMBER: Southeast
OCTOBER: Northeast
NOVEMBER: West and North
West
DECEMBER 2009 - FEBRUARY 2010: Anywhere!
European concerts to be scheduled March - April 2010.
Well...there you have it. A big update and a small request. Infinite thanks to
all of you for bringing your attention to both! I'll be in touch again
soon with the latest skinny from the Sleepy South HQ, including info on my
upcoming blog. Until then, be well and keep rockin' your birdsongs, you
melodious beings you!
And now back to our regularly scheduled open sky. Which I gladly offer
each of you, a little dose of. :)
