What is a joke? I have lived in different countries and different places, but no matter where I go I find one thing to be truth.

A joke is a truth realized in some way, shape, form, or degree by the individual performing. All of our comedy comes from who we are, and thats the difference between being a comedian and being a hack.

Do you agree, disagree, or whats your take on it?

I think that one way to look at a joke it truth revealed in some kind of surprising or unexpected way. Another way to look at it is as a benign release of tension. My friend Ben looks at it that way.

I like things that are true on one level and untrue on another level. They are both true and false at the same time. Example --

A: We know each other so well, we finish each other's --
B: -- sandwiches.

So . . . truth is an element to play with and manipulate. But I think that it oughta' be there in some form. Dunno.

I agree! Even my porkchop tattoo on the vagina joke is based on truth... (it's actually a cupcake).

I think comedy is all about connecting with people, and if you're not being honest and sharing a part of yourself, then that ain't gonna happen. (Does that sound too sappy? I tend to get all mushy like that with comedy cuz I'm so in love with it.)
