Past
Shows:
I've
been playing a few open mics the last couple weeks to keep sharp and
get out there and it's been brilliant. There's been great response to
my songs and antics. At the Backstage Lounge there was (in all
honesty) people that got up and danced. Sweet. At the Anza Club, half
the people thought I was brilliant- the other half bizarre. Sounds
100% right.
I also played a Variety show at a jazz cafe
called Rossini's. Had a great response from a pretty bare room. Best
part of the
evening was being introduced as “Fred Astaire on E”!
[Full disclosure: I have never, and God willing never will, take any
illegal or mind-altering substance. Heck- I hate taking Tylenol and
recently gave up my morning coffee!]
Other
goods to declare:
My
first album review came out on Monday at The Christian Manifesto.
Overall- a very positive review! Here's some exerpts:
Bishop
& Mulholland’s Essays and Ear Candy is definitely an
eclectic listening experience. One part electronica, one part pop
soul, one part techno party; it never seems to want to touch down,
keeping the listener firmly planted in mid-air.
Truth be
told, as we don’t review a lot of music from this particular
genre...All I know is, I like what I hear.
Paul Dirks, the man
behind
Bishop & Mulholland, recalls such singers as David Bowie...His
voice is ethereal and crooning, mixing nicely with the liquid beats
he has created, especially on such tracks as “Thrill of the
Chase” and “Among The Myrtle.”
The really
cool thing about this album is the subtle poetry...It’s very
easy to miss the message laced in the dance beats and overall calming
vibe of the album. But, it’s palpable if you’re willing
to look for it.

Also
coming up very soon is the release of video footage of the Transit
City Tour. Ryan McCann (http://www.mvpvideo.ca/)
has done a great job of the video which is of “Thank You For
Moving” performed at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It also
includes an intro and outro from the rest of the tour which really
brings the whole thing together. I'm excited about this as the other
video footage on the web of my shows is pretty ancient.
One
last note- if you know of a youth group, outreach event, block party,
concert ticket, fundraiser, corporate party or living room show that
needs an entertainer- let me know. I'm always looking to fill spots
in between the concert dates.
Hmmm...one more last note. The
website is not up and running yet as you may (or may not) know. I'm
really looking forward to having it done, but there's specific
functionality I'm looking for and as of it yet it is not ready. I'll
be working hard on it in the coming weeks. For now, continue to use
http://www.myspace.com/bishopandmulholland
for the latest news, concert calendar etc.
Thanks everyone for
your support and love.
