We’re very excited to announce the winner of our air New Music Stage audience choice competition.
You have voted THE GOOD CHINA as your favourite band on the air New Music Stage. They’ll get $5000 and will open the Main Stage in 2010.
The line up on the air New Music Stage this year was amazing – all very talented up and comers and it was therefore a close competition – with thousands of votes placed online.
With a diverse catalogue of songs about everything from cycling in the wind to running away from home as a three year old, The Good China's sound starts off as good old indie fun and builds up to the kind of epic, spine-tingling lushness that only eight people performing in unison can produce. Forming as a bunch of strangers in mid 2008, they have achieved a great amount of attention in such a short amount of time with national, local and interstate airplay, a residency amongst a plethora of live shows.
“We are super excited to win the air New Music stage competition. We can't imagine how many fun stage props we could fit on the Main Stage! This prize will go a long way to helping us produce a recording in 2009. We'd like to thank everyone who voted for us and for everyone who made St Kilda Festival 2009 a great event” said The Good China.
