Victim identified; authorities looking into possible
gang affiliation

Saturday, August 29, 2009 11:56 PM PDTAuthorities
were searching Saturday for two teenagers they say are connected to the
shooting death of a man whose body was found in the garden of a Klamath
Falls home.
Warrants have been issued for Konrad Casebeer, 18,
and Kyle Mahan, 17, who appear to be avoiding contact with police and
may have left the area, officials said Saturday.
Investigators believe they shot the victim following an argument that may have been triggered by a girl.
The
body of 18-year-old Antelmo Herrera-Jimenez was found Friday morning
outside a home in the 900 block of North Alameda Avenue. He died of a
single gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities believe the
suspects and victim were in the same group of friends, Klamath County
District Attorney Ed Caleb said. He said investigators don’t believe
the shooting involved two rival gangs, but they have suspicions about
gang affiliations.

Authorities
are investigating whether the suspects and victim were members of a
group called the Juggalo Family, a group they suspect is associated
with gang-like activity in the community.
Juggalos often are
fans of the music group Insane Clown Posse, who are known to wear
clown-like face paint. The musicians, as well at their record label,
have denounced any affiliation with reported Juggalo gang activity.
Other communities throughout the nation have reported violent incidents
committed by people identifying themselves as Juggalos.
The
events leading up to the local shooting are under investigation, but
authorities believe there was an argument between the victim and the
suspects, Caleb said. Herrera-Jiminez’s body was found in the backyard
garden of a home with no connection to the victim or suspects.
