Another year! it didn't seem busy, but looking back it must've been....!
To re- cap... Recorded my new cd Bellatrix, at Woodstock Studio, right through from Christmas 07 till late Jan, then,...
Painted through the late summer for a show at Sea Pod in Feb in Byron Bay with Gerry Wedd. That was great fun.... had a lot of surfs inbetween setting up the show, hanging around the gallery, trying out boards and talking art-surf and stuff!... etc... Gotta say, didn't sell that much art , but met some great people and good stuff flowed on from that show. Interviews for Surfers Journal and more ...They are really 'in the scene' those guys, lots of good energy around Sea!!
Then late March, The Beachniks went to the Festival of Surfing in Noosa for a week, and that was the dream gig of my life!! Only had to play 2 hours every day at happy hour, then had all night off!! I surfed national park and Boulders all day long every day!! best fun tour ever! (except for Noumea).
Then after that did a huge sculpture with help from Alex into the early Winter in Aireys Inlet down by the lake. We sculpted for about 6 weeks... pretty full on at first, we had fun doing it. Met a lot of the older people round town who came down to talk to us every day and see how it was all going along. A great thing to do. And, it's going to be there for a long time!
Next up was putting final touches to my cd Bellatrix and at the same time started painting for my bi- annual Brisbane exhibition at Dogget st Gallery in August... That exhibition went really well , also played some gigs up there and in Byron, hung around and scored the best Pass I've ever seen or surfed... probably looking back, one of the best surfs I've ever had in my life!! TRUE!
Then back to Victoria and actually offically released the album in mid- October.... Did the launch gigs a few weeks back...Speigeltent was great!!
Also been playing some great gigs with Rebecca Barnard's new band all the past year , and have also had the privilege of playing in Ross McLennans Orchestra just recently. Been playing with Los Locos on and off, Victoriana Gaye at Ceres market and other low key stuff that's been a real revelation!....and the Beachniks at Babalubar most Sunday nights right through the whole year as well....All-Cool!! Late October through November I painted heaps of small paintings for the Sea Xmas show and Doggett st Xmas show as well... both have gone really well!! Well, that brings us up to now..... I haven't posted a blog for ages, been too hard to find the time..! ha! There you go... must've been busy after all!
