Okay, I've got 2 pairs of boots, a pair of runners and some high heels. That’s four pairs of shoes for a two day trip ... Preparation is key!! And I was so prepared, I even had a new CD to listen to in the car, my talk planned out for my Vocal Master Class that day and some high high hopes for a great weekend.
As I charged on down my lil' street, I was at first slightly distracted by the knocking sound coming from the back left hand corner of my car. I slowed down, I sped up. The knocking slowed and sped with me - "It’s definitely your car making that noise" - a clever voice in my head called out. "Hmmm, nothing that a little loud music won't fix," my other voice replied.
I powered onwards with Holly Williams blasting in my stereo. What a lyricist - what a singer. Every time I listened to a song, it unveiled a little bit more to the story. How could I not get lost in her journey for the entire trip. 3 and a half hours later - I parked my car (my very first reverse angle parking victory. I was feeling good). A stranger asked if I had just washed my car. I laughed because it was clearly obvious that I am a water saving citizen who hasn’t done that in a while. But there was water eeeeveryyywhere!! It worried me, but there was no time! I later learned that the knocking sound that almost distracted me from my CD was my pancake back tyre!! ... But the show must go on!!
It was great to meet everyone at the Vocal Master Class. We began our session with some stretches and a warm up. Very important to feel comfortable with the space on stage and your body feels ready to rock!! There was a lovely bunch of people involved, with some great voices and songs to share. Most got to have a bit of a sing and I critiqued their technique and let them know what they were doing right and what they may want to work on in the future. It's just as important to know what you are doing right, so you keep those good habits in check. I really enjoyed every minute.
My baby broooom broooom stayed where she was for the night and was tended to in the morning. I was excited to play with Peter McWhirter again and with Victoria Baillie for the first time. What awesome fun they both are! I love their passion too, it's great to have lots of that surrounding you when you're about to go on stage. We decided to have a bit of a sing all together in "Pour Some Sugar." I loved the energy they brought up with them on stage. Just a great night all round! Thanks to Kyle and Trav's families and friends who came along for support and good vibes. Thanks also to Brookie for coming along and sharing some love.
It was lovely to meet some of my MySpace friends after the show as well. It's also been great hearing the comments about the Master Class and the Orange Ex-Services Club since then. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome and taken on board. Keep 'em coming!
Good luck to all of the aspiring singers I met on the weekend in Orange. It's good to see people getting into country and country pop music, especially so young. Power to you!!
Talk v soon,
Xoxo Jasmine.
PS - I got an iphone today. Hooray!! - it's still in it's shrink-wrapped box. But it's giving off a cool vibe from it's little case. Can’t wait to use it!!
