Lam Rim.

This Madrid trio takes its name from Tibetan Buddhism, their lyrics are in English and the style could be defined as a fusion of pop-rock, electronica, soul, jazz and Latin rhythms.

Although the group took its initial steps some time before, it wasn't until the end of 2003 that Lam Rim really took shape.  Since then, the band has been in continual movement, performing in venues and festivals all over Spain.  Their music has featured on numerous radio programs and digital magazines, internationally as well as nationally, and has been used for television adverts.  Futhermore, their appearances in the music and expressive arts press have always been accompanied by excellent reviews.

Lam Rim are currently presenting their first studio album, Eleven Pieces of Something. Despite the limited resources of a production and recording without the backing of a record label, it includes the contribution of sound engineer Jose Vinader, who decided to take on the project after hearing the songs and is responsible for the final mix and mastering.

[José Vinader has recorded and mixed more than a hundred movie soundtracks, among which are the acclaimed Summer Rain by Antonio Banderas, Goya's Ghosts by Milos Forman and The Other Side of the Bed by Emilio Martínez-Lázaro for which he was awarded a Goya.  He has worked as a tour sound-engineer for widely acclaimed artists.]

In March 2008, Lam Rim successfully applied for the second edition of the prestigious Auditions competition where the jury, made up of distinguished members of the music industry in Spain, chose the finalists from among more than four hundred bands.

In June, the final took place in the Auditorium of the Fundación Canal, Madrid, before a large public.  Although they were the favourites of the majority of the jury, they came second to the winners by just one vote.

Their original mixture of styles and the energy transmitted by their live performance makes the music unforgettable and creates a thoroughly enjoyable experience for their public.  Lam Rim has merely begun show its face and although there are still few who have heard them, it won't be long before there are few who haven't.

History:

The first demo was recorded and sent it to R.N.E. Radio 3 and songs were selected and played on programs like Discolage and Local, hosted by Xabier Moreno, Discopolis hosted by José Miguel López and Diario Pop hosted by Jesús Ordavas. Furthermore, songs from this demo were used as the theme to the program Discolage for the following months.

Xabier Moreno encouraged Lam Rim to take part in an annual, national demo competition organized by FESTIMAD.

Winning the competition meant Lam Rim were able to perform in FESTIMAD '98, which was broadcast on R.N.E, and at the III Festival Pop Villa de Mostoles. Also playing at FESTIMAD '98 were Dover, who consequently became interested in Lam Rim and invited them to be their support act in Valladolid in August 1998.  Lam Rim gave a good performance and astounded the large audience winning unexpected approval.

Soon afterwards, they signed a record deal with EMI and the indie label Loli Jackson Records and participated in a compilation album.  The project,       The Power of Dolores, also included recordings by Dover among other bands.

In May 1999 the album release show was held at the Madrid venue El Sol, where their energetic live performance and charisma received excellent feedback.  Part of this concert, along with an interview, was broadcasted on the TV program No Solo Música on the national Spanish channel Telecinco.

Lam Rim took a temporary break in activity in 2000 when the songwriter, Joâo Mirat, moved to Boston to further his musical education at Berklee College of Music but four years later Lam Rim re-inaugurated their work integrating the new techniques rendering a more defined style and more polished sound.
