Roni Size - 'No More' featuring Beverley Knight and MC Dynamite

Drum & Bass music is sometimes referred to as "jungle music." It originally came from the UK in the early 90s, stemming from a combination of rave, hip hop, funk and reggae cultures.

Most drum & bass parties across Los Angeles take place in a 21'n up club setting where the whole vibe of the party is centered around the dancefloor. The dance style is similiar to hip hop except the beats are twice the speed. Most people dance to every other beat; however a few people are able to actually move to the 170-or-so beats per minute.

The music is very versatile because at its core its simply a combination of drum beats and bass lines. The genre of "Drum & Bass" is often fused with combinations of several other genres including Hip Hop (distinctively known as Hip Step), House (Liquid Funk), Reggae (Ragga), Dub, Breakbeat, R&B, Trance, House, Hardcore. Metal, Ambient, Atmospheric, 2step, Jazz, Soul, the list goes on and on.

Many times when listening to live drum & bass there may be an MC or vocalist accompanying the beats in order to keep the crowd energized. I personally feel this is an essential element to our music form however many people beg to differ. It's really just a matter of opinion.
