The Astoria, London
Saturday 6th December, 2008Dan Dan the fast drumming man,
Mat plays one bass,
Alex the other
Rat does the guitar and
Jonn sings…
So it began in 1987 and so it finished in 1995.
In between times Ned's were very busy growing up together (and eventually, growing apart), building a
unique twin-bass-no-nonsense-Black Country-adrenaline-fuelled-indie-rock-beast of a legacy.
Myth has it that Ned helped inspire the likes of Muse, Blink 182, Hundred Reasons, Coldplay, Kill Hannah, The Young Knives, Mark Ronson and Jamie Cullum to forge their own undoubtedly more lucrative legacies.
From 2000 to 2007 a reformation took place with Alex, Dan and Jonn recruiting the more than capable talents of
Now Assassin members Andy King (bass) and Martin Warlow (guitar) to fill the cavity that Rat and Mat's absence created.
In 2007, Sony/BMG invited the band to write the track list for a new compilation of their Sony recordings (Some Furtive Years) and, suddenly, everyone was talking to each other again. Well, writing at least.
And if they were talking, why weren't they playing? When the Astoria came knocking, it didn't take much deliberation before the date was set and Dan, Alex, Mat, Rat and Jonn were stood in a rehearsal room together for the
first time in 13 years.
The setlist?
The hits of course!
The occasion?
21 years of Ned's Atomic Dustbin.
A reunion brought about by email ….
Let's call it
