Hello again and Happy June to all,
I want to firstly thank everyone, this includes, bands, fans, media and all who have patiently waited for info and have been patient with the madness (but yet so much excitement) of working on an event of this magnitude, especially with NO BUDGET.Everybody, yes this includes YOU, has been so helpful in making this event happen. Know that all those repost and spreading the word about this event has significantly brought upon much attention. This year we will be greeted by Brazilian television show MULTISHOW, which is geared towards young people and focused on arts, entertainment and music in New York. MULTISHOW could be compared to VH1 or MTV here in the U.S. Check them out on: www.multishow.com.br/lugarincomum Also, Philadelphia’s very own Woodshop Films will be filming the event as well, check their kickass videos on: http://woodshopfilms.com/ Take a gander at the Punk Island article on Time Out New York. Check the link: And now for some awaited updates: As far as the exact time bands are playing the Punk Island Team is still working hard, to the last minute on this. I again thank the bands managing their stages and those who volunteered to manage the rest of the stages. You guys are fukin heroes and deserve unlimited beer in heaven. If you don’t drink then you still deserve endless amounts of whatever it is you dig ;-} I will see you all during load in bright and early June 21st. I know it sucks to be working at 7AM, but hey, it’s gotta be done and everyone will love you for it. THANKS AGAIN.
On the bad side of things, I regretfully need to announce that the skateboard demo will not be happening this year. I was just notified that the truck with the half-pipe is currently out of commission and even tho the owner has been painlessly trying to get it back on the road the sad truth is that the half-pipe truck is RIP. However, Worship Skateboards and their crew will still be rockin it at Punk Island and they will have some limited edition Punk Island skateboards for sale. Proceeds from the skateboards and the shirts help pay for our very pricey production costs. Hey, we can still all enjoy some serious skateboarding around this beautiful island right!!!
Schedule is still the same, the earliest bands start at 10:15AM and all bands end by 5PM. I am sure there will be some after parties all around the city, simply ask your fellow man, women and child at the show and we will all hear about some after party action. For those from out of town, New York is a kick ass Island with lotta cool shit to do. So lets paint the town red and have some serious fun.
I need remind you that Governors Island is state park property, thus alcoholic beverages, pets and weapons are restricted from the premises. For detailed rules and regulations please click on the following link: http://www.govisland.com/Visit_the_Island/rules.asp You will see an information desk when you get into the island. There you will get directions to all the Areas/Stages and you can also help out with donations and buy Punk Island merch, water and snacks. Again, proceeds are greatly appreciated and need I remind that the shirts and skateboards are limited edition and cannot be purchased after they are sold out.
Punk Island shirts: $15 (while they last)
Punk Island skateboards: $50 (only 40 exist)
Water & snacks: Real Cheap
Donations: "Priceless"
Thank you Erinn McElhaney (AKA Cutie Calamity from S.M.U.T. ) for the incredible Punk Island logo, flyers, banners and graphics.
