Broken by Michael Sams

As I looked into my reflection all I could see are two contrasting futures staring back at me.

The posetions of the world bind me so

The flames of love consume my whole

Rapt I saw a sinister man

With a jester smile and a bloody hand

His fatalities made me think

Was this a man or a beast

Masochistic ways caressed my flesh with a burning dagger

Covered in blood I started to stagger

Falling into Darkness, consumed by sleep

My eyes closed as I started to weep

Looking back all I could see

Was betrayal, confusion, and mere fantasy

Then in that place

A familiar face screamed into the night

A young boy standing after a fight

Whoses tears soon became my light

Tears fade as a man snatched the boy away with a bloody hand

Laying, in the twilight of a most painful life

to think I thought I had finally found a wife

Suddenly a man appeared cover in gold Laced in tears

Thoughts seared my mind

Why, how could she leave me behind

Visions of lust and pain rapt me wild

I couldnt save her from her sin and denile

Thoughts of failure consumed me so

As a man in armor spoke to my whole

"Never again" he said with eyes wrapped in red

Once again while I could see as his evanescenceing form took over me

Was this my mind or just a place

O God why do these people have my face

Descending down chained and bound

Darkness gave form, to a hound chained and bound, with teeth made of thorns

Craving the beast approached

Smelling its thoughts gave way most

Protection, alliance, and all the traits of a friend

To see betrayal only to start again

Mocking with eyes of mine

Only a shadow always behind

Tired of this dreary Life

I fell hopeing to see my wife

Suddenly the Darkness faded

I started to think that I was jaded

Darkness gave way to light

Light gave way to wind

Soon stood my closest kin

O so bold a angel who came to hell

O thank you for breaking me out of my jail

With eyes of pearl a smile to brighten the darkest night

As they closed they left me in fright

Left behind once again

I couldn't evend depen on my closest friend

Soon Darkness took form

As I opened a door

Only to look through

And when all of heaven was blue

You were the one who broke through.
