This is way late, but I have to say thanks to the Western Washington University Harry Potter Club for a tremendous evening!
They invited me out to sing for their Yule Ball on November 15, and I went. I played a half-hour set to a great crowd--they had something like 170 people there, and their appreciation encouraged me greatly! As it was my first time performing wizard rock (also my first time hearing it live), I had extra reason to enjoy myself.
Not only that, but I got to enjoy hearing several of the Club members (including Chris "Gilderoy Lockhart" Godwin, who was M.C. and entertainment manager for the night) put on a couple of Harry Potter rewrites of songs from the hit musical "Wicked". The talent level really amazed me--great singing and acting. I was thoroughly impressed.
Also, props to whoever put together the Harry Potter trivia game in the back of the room ... I think my knowledge of the books is pretty good, but they stumped me on several of the questions!
Many thanks, then, to the WWU Harry Potter Club and everyone who attended--you guys gave me a splendid evening. Especial thanks to Chris Godwin, who invited me. I never did get your autograph, Gilderoy ...
