Link to the actual interview coming soon
1. First off, lets get a roll call. Names and instruments/roll in the band.
Matt - Vocals/16
Brian - Lead Guitar/18
Sean - Guitar/Vocals/16
Andrew - Bass/Vocals/15
Charlie - Drums/17
2. You guys are relatively young, where/when did you meet?
Sean - I met Brian about 5 years ago in a guitar class in middle school. He went to high school and I was a year behind him so I didn't see him for a while, but we both ended up going to the same high school, and since we knew we could both play guitar, we decided we should start a band... so I guess 3 years ago a very rough version of TNT was formed. Brian and I met Charlie a year later, and from there we recruited Andrew (who is Brian's brother) because he was really good at bass. We just recently added Matt to the band because we felt things were not going in the right direction with our old singer. Now we're very happy with where we are going as a band.
3. Musical influences?
All - A lot of other bands and genres.
4. Tell me about your writing process, do you each have specific
roles, or is it more of a group effort?
Matt - Typically, Sean, Brian, or Andrew will start out with a couple of guitar riffs. From there, they'll show each other what they have, and each add their own input. Then they work with Charlie on turning what they've written into an actual song. I'll give them my input, and then work with Sean and Andrew on lyrics.
Brian - Our friend Dyson helps us with writing some of our lyrics as well.
5. Do you find your age's make it harder, or easier to be taken
seriously as a band?
Brian - We try to be as professional as possible with everything we do. We take
our band pretty seriously -- I mean we have a ton of fun with
what we do, but when we are working with other bands, promoters, booking agents, and industry representatives, we do what we can to make sure people take us seriously.
6. Any plans for an album release anytime soon?
Andrew - Yes we are about to go into the studio and record a 6 song EP,
which we are planning to release late 2007 or early 2008.
7. What does the future hold for Tragedy and Triumph?
Charlie - Shows, expanding our fan base, and someday getting noticed by
the right people at the right time -- and continueing to make music.
Andrew - We also want to go on tour, put out the CD, and just have a good time. We love what we do, and we want to keep doing it for as long as we can.
8. As a band, what's the one thing that's most important to you?
Sean - For me, it's our friendship. Even though being in a band can cause arguments, and we cant all agree on the same thing all the time, we are still all really good friends. This time in my life is something I will always remember, and I'm glad that I'll be remembering it in a positive light.
Brian - I agree on that, I hope we can all look back on this in 50
years, and still be friends and just have some great memories.
Matt- Yeah, same
9. How has the local scene treated you so far?
Charlie - Great. We've been expanding our fan base a lot in San Diego, and we are getting good crowds at every show.
Matt - The scene has treated us well, we love the crowd and reactions we
get when we play shows.
Sean - I like the scene, but its changed so much. Now a days you get
respect by how heavy you are. A lot of people just go to shows to mosh. For some it's a reason to dress up. There are a few kids who actually like the music for what it is, and those are the true fans. I have nothing against the others because they make shows shows, but I do encourage people to actually listen to music and what musicians have to say.
10. Anything else you'd like to add? Something you want your fans to
know that I didn't ask?
All - We love all our fans and we thank them for supporting us in
all that we've been through!
