Saturday July 12th marked the DC debut for Brokedown Playboys at the Quarry House Tavern Rockabilly Saturday Night series. Produced by JP McDermott of JP McDermott & Western Bop, the series is a great outlet for Rockabilly and Honky Tonk in Metro DC and takes place at a storied venue with its own unique charm.

We played a one-set opener for our series host and began at 9:30PM sharp. We were gratified to see all the folks who turned out for the show/a full house and after JP graciously helped dial us in sound-wise, were off to the races.

The set list/breakdown:
1. Lonesome Train: Mean Matt on vocals to open the set--rockin' number and good for 1st up/nervous energy
2. Cat Called Domino: Andrew on vocals, a carry from our 4Star days that's a lot of fun
3. Be Bop a Lula: Folks up dancing for the Vincent classic w/ extended 2nd solo/bass break
4. Before You Accuse Me: Matt rev's up a Bo number
5. I'm a One Woman Man: Andrew on the Horton chestnut
6. Isabelle, Isabelle: an original from the pen of Mean Matt
7. Heading for Disaster: First of three where we're joined by Johnny Allan. This a rockin' original of his.
8. White Lightning: Allan on a super-fun tune to do
9. The Way I Walk: We send this one out to our host JP to end the Allan guest spot
10. Twenty Flight Rock: Andrew on the Cochran classic: lots of words and he glad to have held the riff together
11. The Last Time: Matt does Marvin Rainwater--great lyrics
12. Brand New Cadillac: Heading into the home stretch we do a Clash-filtered version w/ a surf guitar break on 2nd solo--very well received.
13. Train Kept a Rollin': Ending the set w/ Matt on Burnette again--turns out R n R Trio rockers make great set bookends
+ 1. Race With the Devil: A genuine "One More!" Andrew tests the limits of sing/play simultaneous as we end out with another Vincent classic.

We had a ball and really appreciated the reaction we got from folks and can't wait to get back to the Quarry. That happens Sept. 13th for a special early 8:30pm start as part of Justina's big RAB b-day blow-out at the Quarry. We hope to see ya there!
