In keeping with the theme of relaxation, rejuvenation, and restoration, I am always keeping an eye out on treatments that really enhance one's spirits and overall wellness.
For this reason, I am very fascinated by Ayurveda, which in Sanskrit translates to "the science of life." This practice establishes an integration and balance of the body, mind, and spirit, and has been the primary practice of health care in India since history was ever documented. Each person has a balance of three doshas, or body types/personality traits and characteristics, with one being the most prominent. They include the vata, pitta, and kapha. When one may become out of balance, such arises health and wellness issues.
I am particularly interested in the massage aspect of Ayurveda. Using a wide variety of herbs, spices, and oils, treatments vary from invigorating dry brush treatments (excellent for the lymphatic system), to herbal body pastes and wraps, to muslin bag herbal treatments, to the deeply relaxing Shirodhara - a steady stream of heated oil flowing onto the forehead. If this doesn't sound amazing, I don't know what does, folks.
