Hello friends. I recently asked Mr. Chet Zar to take part in a small interview. For anyone who is not familiar with Chet's work, you are obviously a loser and I don't know why you are even on my page....KIDDING! I will sum up all I have to say with this...Chet is one badass mofo with a paintbrush and his art is unlike anything you have ever seen! His paintings are instantly identifiable in any crowd, with uniqueness to spare! I have had the extraordinary pleasure of owning one of his originals and it has definitely become one of my most dear prized possessions. I highly recommend that anyone who enjoys art as I do take a little time to get to know his amazing body of work for yourselves. You will be glad you did! For this interview I wanted to pick Mr.Zar's brains a little about a few of those things OTHER than his artistic endeavors, simply because his art already speaks for itself. Interview with the one and only Chet Zar-PAINTER OF DARK!!!
- What would be your "needful thing"? One tangible materialistic item that you would almost kill to own? A Mellotron.
- What is the most mischievous thing you did as a child? That list would be long. But if there is one thing that I feel the most guilty about- even to this day- it would be locking my cousin in a trunk. I locked it and she had to wait until my brother got home with the key to get out.
- If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My shyness. I really envy people who feel totally at ease around strangers and in social situations.
- Name 3 things you enjoy doing, or hobbies that do not include art. Reading, listening to music and watching movies.
- If you could alter or change any monumental moment or event in history, what would you change? There are so many bad things in history to change that I couldn't just pick one.
- You seem like a pretty cool dude for sure, name 2 characteristics about yourself that you would consider "dorky". I'm a horror movie geek and I like to build computers.

- Is Chet Zar a lover or a fighter? In an altercation would you duke it out or let it ride? I'm not much of a fighter.
- Which option best broadly defines your personality style? Amiable, driver, analytical, or expressive? Amiable.
- How do you feel about organized religion? I respect others rights to believe in whatever they want but I have never really been big on organized religion.
- What is your all time favorite movie, and why? That's tough. If I had to pick one I would say "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" because I think it's a perfect movie.
- A director of your choice wants to help you make an epic film, with a huge budget, all aspects are covered, but the concept will be all Zar! What kind of film would you make? A post apocalyptic surrealist dream world full of strange creatures.
- If you could magically donate a cool mil to a charity of your choice- which organization would you choose? Something for children or animals.
- Did O.J. do it? The first time…that is. Of course.
- You could live the life of any other person for just one day- who would it be? Beksinski.
- What is your favorite painting you have created, any that were super hard to let go of? That would probably be "Black Magick" because I knew it would become a signature piece. But I really needed the money! "Shamanic Tendencies" would be a close second because that painting just kind of glows. I really think it's one of my best paintings. I didn't have a problem letting it go, though, since I knew it was going to a good home.
- Do you do any particular impersonations, voices, or gestures of any famous peeps for shits and giggles? I can do a pretty good Terrence McKenna impression. He had a really funny way of talking.
- If you could experience a total different culture for one week what would it be? I would love to go into the Amazon and take Ayahuasca with a good Shaman.
- Do you know the root meaning of your last name? No.
- What is your BIGGEST pet peeve; something people do that absolutely drives you nuts and pisses you off? Neocons. The aggressive Karl Rove types who never admit they are wrong about anything and refuse to see any other point of view.
