Sky Hi would like to welcome you to the new, improved, funkier than funky blog. The band has been hard at work making some changes and generally tightening things up, and we are eager to share with you guys out there!

First off, we want to thank all the folks that support us by coming out to the shows, buying cds, telling their friends, making us food, and generally helping us to make a little funky music and live our funky little lives. All the love and support is much appreciated.

Secondly, as you may have noticed, we are trying to keep up with the 21st century and update the myspace page and website. We hope to have scores of new photos, tunes, and live recordings on here very soon. Let us know what you think!

We are in the process of recording a new album with engineer Nick DeVan at the studio of Sky Hi drummer Flava Dave's GED soul records. The first tunes slated to hit the tape are the funky-junky "Junkyard Dog", the heavily influenced "Over the Influence", and the mostly reasonable "The Reason." Therefore, for the next few months we will be playing fewer shows and spending more time in the studio getting the sounds, tweaking knobs, and wearing headphones.

Former keyboardist Andrew Dolfie has moved on to focus his efforts on his band the new whole usuals. We wish them luck and encourage everybody to check them out! Moving in to fill up those particularly skilled shoes is Josh Cochran aka "DJ Anemone." He has funny hair and can't remember things, but he is learning. Check out his site, tunes, and mixes if you get a minute. Then tell him to get back to practicing actually playing the keyboards.

We have heard a bunch of you comment on the lack of new material and we have had our funky ears open! So, we have been writing loads of new music!

Some of the new tunes have shown up in recent Sky Hi shows. Flava Dave's tentatively titled, yet superbly smooth "Smoothie Pie" has opened up the last couple of shows with its soulful Motown sound. Dee's as of yet untitled scorcher of a tune is all funked up with some middle eastern sounding changes, breakneck turnarounds, and a drum / percussion break that would make a lamppost shake its skinny rump. And finally Josh's (DJ Anemone) funky sly meets Medeski instrumental headnodder "Mr. Slinky" made a furtively bouncy appearance at the last show. There is still a lot more music in the works, keep your ears peeled, and your eyes open!

Finally, we have a bit of a request to throw out there. Our bass player Tim lives in the house we practice in. Tim needs a roommate. Therefore Sky Hi needs a roommate, or we are going to have to find a new place to practice, and Tim a new place to live. HELP!!! Do you know anybody cool enough to live with us? Do you know anybody with a job who needs a place to live? If so, hit us up!

Thanks for checking out the blog! Our next show is Halloween night October 31st @ Wall St. with THB! So get ready to put on your dancing shoes, your party dresses, and your ghost / ghouls / vampire / dr. / hooker / spongebob / etc. costumes and come get a funky treat!
