This is a difficult post to write about and I don't even know where to begin. Shay Hawkins is a drummer that I had the privilege to play with for many years. In fact, he is the drummer that's recorded on my first album Runaround. We grew close over the years and I owe him the gratefulness of having introduced me to my present violinist, Mireya Ramos. I could go on and on talking about what a great guy he is and how grateful I am to know him.

The reason I call for a night of prayer for my friend is because I was recently informed that he was in a very bad car accident a few weeks ago. His family lives in Cleveland and he would travel frequently between there are NYC and on one of his trips back, he apparently hit a patch of ice on the highway and crashed off to the side of the road. The damage to his body is extensive and although he is recovering better and better each day he is still only mobile from the chest up. He is talking and from what I'm told he is also writing emails and will soon be able to leave the hospital and enter full-time care at home with his sister and continue out-patient therapy.

His family has set up a website so that those that wish to leave him a message can do so and also read of any updates on his condition. If you did know him or just wish to offer up a word of encouragement or prayer, here is the link to his website: Shay Hawkins Website.

To him and his family, I just want to say that I'm praying for you and we love you.
much love

Shay is definitely in my prayers. I pray he will have the strength to endure all the rough days ahead. We thank God he survived and will be an inspiration to all of us I'm sure. God bless and keep him well.

All the good thoughts I can muster Shay, it's astounding what things we can heal from. Your belief in your own strength will see you through a lot, but rest assured, if ever you reach what you can't handle your friends will help out. Take care and I'll be watching for updates with good news on your progress.

Age- Hey there my sweet wonderful friend. Sorry Ive been a bit MIA of late. Working hard at my new job. You're never far from my thoughts though and you and yours continue to be in my daily prayers. I will add Shay to mine as well. Anyone you think so highly of must be pretty awesome. May he believe in his heart that there are better days ahead and find strength in God to endure this. Hugs and some sunshine from sunny florida. Say hi when you can.

Thanks for posting this Rhen. I know Shay as well and I didn't know that you do too! Small world I'm happy to see how many people are thinking and praying for his full recovery. What I do know of Shay is that he is super determined and driven. No matter what happens he will make the best of his life, he is so charismatic...
