"I am my beloved's and He is mine, so come into your garden and take delight in me" this chorus is a combination of two scriptures from the book of Song of Solomon. Song of Solomon 6:3 says "I am my beloved's and He is mine..." Song of Solomon 4:12 says "A garden enclosed is my sister, my bride, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed." If you are not familiar with the language of Song of Solomon it can be very confusing, so i understand the need for clarity on the meaning. In the book of Song of Solomon, Solomon (the beloved) is representative of Jesus and the Shulamite is representative of the bride of Christ, or the body of Christ. "I am my beloved's and He is mine" just means that he purchased us at the cross and we are now His and He is ours. (Galatians 2:20, Psalm 16:5) "A garden enclosed is my sister, my bride..." this one is a little bit trickier because of the unusual language. Solomon (Jesus) says of the Shulamite (the bride, you and me) that she is a garden enclosed. The word garden here is referring to the inner man (1 corinthians 6:19-20, ephesians 3:16), the inward workings of our heart. Our garden is our heart. Our heart is the only part of us that we can keep hidden (enclosed) from everyone else except God. Life, in God's evaluation truly takes place inside the heart, not in our outward actions (1 samuel 16:7). If our heart is pure and clean then the Holy Spirit is pleased and delighted to make His home inside of us (eph. 4:30). I encourage you, please take a look at these scriptures I have included. Feel free to ask any questions... Bless you all. Cory
