"I am my beloved's and He is mine, so come into your garden and take delight in me"
this chorus is a combination of two scriptures from the book of Song of Solomon.
Song of Solomon 6:3 says "I am my beloved's and He is mine..."
Song of Solomon 4:12 says "A garden enclosed is my sister, my bride, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed."
If you are not familiar with the language of Song of Solomon it can be very confusing, so i understand the need for clarity on the meaning.
In the book of Song of Solomon, Solomon (the beloved) is representative of Jesus and the Shulamite is representative of the bride of Christ, or the body of Christ.
"I am my beloved's and He is mine" just means that he purchased us at the cross and we are now His and He is ours. (Galatians 2:20, Psalm 16:5)
"A garden enclosed is my sister, my bride..." this one is a little bit trickier because of the unusual language.
Solomon (Jesus) says of the Shulamite (the bride, you and me) that she is a garden enclosed.
The word garden here is referring to the inner man (1 corinthians 6:19-20, ephesians 3:16), the inward workings of our heart. Our garden is our heart. Our heart is the only part of us that we can keep hidden (enclosed) from everyone else except God. Life, in God's evaluation truly takes place inside the heart, not in our outward actions (1 samuel 16:7). If our heart is pure and clean then the Holy Spirit is pleased and delighted to make His home inside of us (eph. 4:30).
I encourage you, please take a look at these scriptures I have included.
Feel free to ask any questions...
Bless you all.
Cory

It's awesome you posted this blog. At the very moment you posted it I was singing it to the Lord - and had such a close personal encounter with Him that I was weeping. I don't sing very much, so it was the Holy Spirit that compelled me to sing in the first place. Thank you so much! This really touched me

By the way, I started playing around with my guitar a couple of months ago, and would really love to play "Where I Belong." Is there any way you could send me the chords? It is absolutely my favorite song right now. Thanks so much for writing it

Thanks for the notes Cory. The explaination of the Garden was really helpful. May He find delight in me.

PS -- ' sent you an email recently to your IHOP address. ' Trying to contact Justin Rizzo if you have his email handy.

Are you all on a media fast by any chance? Some folks in my camp are for 21 days.

Looking forward to hearing back from you. Steven

What do you say about historical commentators that reject the notion that Song of Solomon is an allegory of Christ's love for us, but hold to its historical context as an explanation of the love between Solomon and a Shulammite woman?

i say that unfortunately those historical commentators are not privy to the things of God's heart.

if they are correct, what then is the reason that the HOLY SPIRIT had Song of Solomon canonized in scripture?
the central theme of canonized scripture is love between Jesus and His bride.

Father God wants a family and Jesus wants a bride. Holy Spirit will make it happen.

i really appreciate the way you want to find things out for yourself. it's awesome.

bless you.

Thanks Cory. I pray that you keep reading the Word and joyously find it time and time again the source of Truth for us as Christians. He must become more, i must become less. Thanks again.

Awesome bro I love the song and the revelation of song of solomon when it was revealed to me totally changed my life. Thank God for obedient worship leaders like you and Misty edwards. God bless ya man keep it up. Of course you will. God bless. P.S. I don't know if you'll answer me back but hey does the tree of life have any significance spiritually. I know it was in the garden of eden and that garden seemed like it was cut off from the world as our hearts should be. So does the tree of life have anything to do with the revelation of the garden and does it have to do with our fruits. Please comment back man because I have wondered that forever. I'll keep studying to show myself approved lol. God bless.

Hi All- I'm new to MySpace and have never blogged on anything before, but felt compelled to do so here...

Although I have now been a Christian for over 20 years (as a convert from the Moslem faith)- it is only in the past year or 2 that God has really transformed the dynamic of our relationship- as deep calls to deep. Wow- I am so blessed that he has already begun to do the same with all of you responding to Cory as you have!

I believe, he is calling not only us as individuals, but the Church as a whole as well to this deeper intimacy- and that the signs and the wonders that will follow naturally- rather supernaturally out of that overflow- if we allow him to take us to the Mountain-Top experience.

If any of you are really interested in a study/journey of this amazing book-- you can download THE BEST teaching series by Mike Bickle as a podcat on Yearn, Faint, Cry- I believe...

Better yet, here is a direct site you can hear the whole series:

http://www.archive.org/details/SongOfSongs_CompleteSet

From that site:

"Nothing empowers the human heart like the revelation of God's affection for us. Though this love is seen throughout the Bible, the Song of Songs unveils this divine romance unlike any other. The Song of Songs is an eight chapter love song revealing the passionate desire of God for His bride.

The Song of Songs is Mike Bickle's most popular teaching series. Mike has devoted twenty years of prayerful study and research covering each line of this divine love song. During the winter of 2007 he taught this completely revised and updated course. Packed with new material and fresh insight, this is his most comprehensive and powerful presentation to date".

Thank you Cory, Misty, and all of you annointed artists that help usher us into His glorious presence through your music!
