Black Light Art Party was first held on June 6th, 2007 at Ruta Maya Riverwalk. The night was an arts extravaganza that employed flourescent and black light medium to dazzle its audience. The night was a one night celebration of art. Local electronic acts and artists participated, making the night a strong success. Art was featured by Michael Aaron Casares, Ernest Vidal, Gil Casares, Samo Lee, Valerie Tapia, Melissa Channel Garza and Joselyn Monique.
Black Light Art Party: Transparent Spectacular held on July 4th, 2008 at Ruta Maya Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX was a smashing success! The second year of art celebration in black light mediums: the artists returned to bring you transparent artwork accentuated by the alien glow! What a night! 9 foot paints transparent and 3 dimensional scaled the walls, towered like other worldly edifices that dazzled the audiences! Bands played, Dj's spun, fun was had by all!!! This year's art featured was Michael Aaron Casares, Ernest Vidal, Gil Casares, Mel Channel Garza & Daniel Garcia.
Black Light Art Party @ Calcasieu Gallery was held on Saturday July 4th, 2009 and commemorated the national holiday as well as Contemporary Art Month in San Antonio. This year was a round-about show with all variations of black light and UV friendly work from abstract to transparent to contemporary and 3D. This year featured several 12 foot paintings that glowed on flourescent cloth, some art with a patriotic theme for the special holiday. Gallery hours ran 7 to midnight. The Musikbox and Sachsen Apocalpyse provided aural entertainment. This year's artists included Contingent members: Michael Aaron Casares, Gil Casares, Ernest Vidal, Eneida Garcia & Daniel Garcia as well as contributing artists Raul Castellanos and Alyson Alonzo.
Black Light Art Party Encore held Saturday Sept. 5, 2009! The Calcasieu opened for another evening of art, music and more. The Black Light Contingent's Labor Day Weekend Bash was a smash hit! Art from the 4th of July extravaganza glowed the night away for one more time! Plus a few new pieces were exhibited by artists: Gil Casares (who also did a textile installation), Ernest Vidal, Eneida Garcia and Alyson Alonzo. Music was performed live by The Sachsen Apocalypse, The Musikbox and DJ Fell. Thanks to everyone who came out for this event!
