Who Gives Kudos:

September 29, 2009 - Tuesday
Thank you to the many new and old friends of Dig Deeper who came out to witness Marva Whitney's return to the NYC stage after a (criminal!) 40 year absence!  Marva really tore it up with the Sweet Divines and the Divine Soul Rhythm Band, doing absolutely mind bending versions of her classics funk records as well as a few of her more soulful singles. Hopefully her "I sing soul" LP will finally get to see the light of day soon... Before that, the Sweet Divines played a stellar set - looking forward to their record release next month!  One part of the new venue that is particularly great is getting to hear each others' DJ sets since we don't have to work the door out of speaker range any longer, and guest DJ Pari spun some great ones.

Please, Marva, don't keep us waiting until 2049 for the next show!  Here's what went down:

1) Divine  Soul Rhythm Band "In the middle" intro
2) Unwind yourself
3) I made a mistake because it's only you
4) Things got to get better
5) Your love was good for me
6) He's the one
7) Daddy don't know about sugar bear
8) What do I have to do to prove my love to you
9) It's my thing
