Who Gives Kudos:

July 6, 2009 - Monday
Hello everyone,
Well we just wanna say thank you to all our friends out there, as we've said we have friends not fans, for supporting us and being so amazing to us over this album cycle. We're back to the original line up, gotten the chance to do some amazing tours with bands we love, finally got over seas to Europe to finally meet some very patient and loyal 7dusters. Your guys were so incredible and we can't wait to make Europe a regular stop for us from now on. All the things we've heard about how passionate and loyal you are from our friends in other bands was right on and we can't explain the joy we had playing for you in the small places and playing the festivals to a lot of crazy ass people. We're very thankful for all of you.
We also had a chance to play Iraq for the men and women serving there and there are truly no words to say how amazing that trip was for us. Granted it's no tropical paradise but we loved meeting you, seeing what you deal with daily and seeing your commitment. We love all of you and get home safe to your families.
OK so now it's time for us to focus and start writing the new 7dust record. We know there's a lot of expectations on this record and we have all the faith in the world that it's gonna be a serious 7d record. We embrace the pressure of it and have full intentions on ripping peoples heads off with this one. We're back at full force, we're closer to each other than ever and we will not release this thing until it's undeniable.
We still haven't decided on a producer but have a few names that are very exciting and when we lock that down it will be game on for sure. We're very excited about this and we're gonna take our time. It will still possibly be done and released early next year because if you know us you know we can't stay away too long.
Because we have so much respect for you and the die hards that have been with us we'd like to give you a voice as well. We'd like to here from you what kind of 7d record you'd like. What type of vibe, Heavy as hell, lots of melody, both, which record was your favorite in the past? Just your general thoughts. We know what record we have to make but can always pick info out from you to keep in mind when we write this thing. I will scan every single comment and keep your thoughts on the fore front of our minds. The bottom line is no one knows us more than you guys, no over paid producer can tell us something more valuable than what you can. Be honest, brutal if need be, but don't be a dick about it:). Let us know what kind of 7dust record you want to hear. I'll make sure we all check it out daily. Consider this your input on a very important 7d record.
We love you and can't wait to hear from you.
All our love and respect,
Sevendust

..Sevendust hear me out, and please read all of this. YALL r my favorite band ever when u came to jacksonville last year w disturbed yall rocked that auditorium down to the foundation. By far morgan u r my favorite drummer of all times, i myself play the drums and the way u play is incredble, the way u twirl the sticks and scream at the same time is awesome. yes maybe i study Sevendust a lil to much and even went as far as gettin the 7d tattooed on my body just to let everyone know this band is the shit. But anyway when i found out yall were coming out with a new album i nutted just a lil. and that yall were askin ur family for advice is awesome. ..i think if yall had james hettfield from metallica sing in one of yalls song that would be the SHIT Or shawn from seether..  all of yalls songs are awesome but if yall mixed the PURE rock and sweetness that  ..ALPHA and ANIMOSITY.. has  and then mixed the raw concert music that ..HOME ..and.. NEXT offer.. and have Lj sing his ass off everyone in the world would get 7D tattooed on them and be in love w the music that yall make. ..SEVENDUST.. yall are incredible good luck and PLEASE PLEASE COME TO ......JACKSONVILLE ORLANDO AND TAMPA...... make a mans dream come true....

Are you freakin serious??? James Hetfields voice has sounded like total shit for 15 damn years!!!....and Seether??? You gotta be joking!!! That guy singing, sounds like a little girl! Dont tell Lajon to sing beside singers that cant carry his jock strap,Shit!!! He needs someone that can actually sing,at least somewhere close to as well as he can,to stand beside him! I think,Aaron Lewis wouldnt sound too bad beside LJ,in a song,on the new album. Not sure Aaron could hang with LJ,but its an interesting idea.Lets hear more opinions....Lets have it!!! LOL!

i agree with u there buddy. except 4 the flyleaf shit. there just as bad as seether and metallica. nonpoint does kick ass though. what they need is a little serj on there record cuz every1 needs a little serj. but i cant get enough of lajon. i wish morgan would scream his lungs out for an entire song though. that would blow my fucking mind. we deffinately need a mixture of Home and Alpha. anyway cant wait for the new record. blow us away and come back to Nashville.

Yes, definitely. Serj would be the ultimate guest on this record. I do like some Flyleaf, not all, but that girl has an amazingly unique voice. I think Dave Draiman from disturbed would be great on a heavier track. His staccato style singing would work very well with some of Sevendusts wild ass beats. Lajon is still the best.

Pretty Much What I'd Like to See is More Stuff Like "Inside", I Thought Ch.VII Was Brilliant, a Good Balance of Heaviness, and Melody. I'd Like to See a Lot Heavy Stuff on This Album, but I Love the Melody That Made Sevendust Stand-Out.

Animosity was by far the best Sevendust record in my opinion!! If you were to lean towards that style again that would be great!! It was very heavy but creative at the same time!!

Ummmm, truth is...Alpha blows Animosity outta the studio!Animosity was a mistake. They know better than to duplicate something like that again. It was a tester album to reach an audience that likes a more boring sound. They learned from their mistake,& havnt made anything as boring, again.I do agree that its still better than any album, any other band has released. But,we are comparing Sevendust to Sevendust....not sure thats fair to them.Thats what they want tho,so im not discouraging it!LOL!

im all for a good combo of heavy and melodic..animosity had a good combo..i love the heavier stuff from the self title and home..the rest of the albums have had a good combo..if i had to choose i would say try to go from self titled to where you were at on hope and sorrow find a good balance i know that no matter what the album will be amazing..and defiantly continue with the tradition of clint singing his ass of also love when you lajon and clint sing together and go back and forth such as xmas day

All of your albums were my favorite guys. No lies there. Each had an awesome feel to it. The heavy with melody sounds like a great idea. I think it's awesome how you guys do so much in giving back to people (Tours overseas, Iraq, and on and on). Keep up the soulful Metal, whichever you decide on will be Awesome!

Proud to be one of the early voices...SEASONS RULED!!! I know it's not heavy enough for some but it was the perfect record for me personally, and that's what you guys asked for...I love the brutal heavy riff verses with the melodic choruses and kick ass breakdowns...groove metal rules! BTW, I met you guys at HOB in New Orleans a few months ago and you were all class acts...thanks for that, and good luck with the new record...

Personally I really love the earlier 7D albums.  I find myself still listening to those regularly.  Since you have a wide range of talent pretty much anything produced whether melodic or heavy is going to sound great.  With that said, I would really like to see a throw back to some earlier 7D style.

I agree, but would like even a little of Home thrown in there. The "stiff-riffing", as I call it. I love the mix of of heavy and melodic on Animosity, and Alpha was just straight-up brutal, but it seems like Morgan had a little more fun on Home than the more straight-forward parts on other albums.

So really, my fave mix would be melodies of Animosity, riffs of Home, and power of Alpha. And I'm looking forward to Clint lending his voice to the mix once again! Songs like "Xmas Day" w/ the vocal tradeoffs are killer.

Rock on, guys! You've already got my first-day CD dollars!

SHADES OF ANGER

That is really cool that you guys are asking us. My opinion is just to play whatever you guys feel. I do love the mellow and the acoustic tracks you guys have put out before. But I also love the anger and aggression you guys put out as well. A cool idea would be to make an angry record, and make a bonus cd of the acoustic versions of all of the songs on the record. No one else in the business is doing that, and that would, I'm sure, satisfy everyone who keeps up with you guys.

I love all of your records, but my favs are the onese after the "Home" record.  All of the songs writeen post Home, combine "heaviness" with melodic choruses.  Songs such as "Beautiful" "Live Again", "Fear", "Ugly", "Enemy", and "Inside", showcase this.  Hope this helps!!  You guys are my favorite band and was glad to finally see you guys live this past year in Pittsburgh.  I love how you opened up the show with "Inside"!!!  I hope I get the chance to see you guys again and possible hang out with all of you.  Thanks for making such great music.

I have always loved how certain songs of yours can be heavy to start off with and then they break into something melodic that takes it to a completely different level.  You guys have an amazing level of talent.  Id say think of different break downs to do also.  Im sure whatever you guys decide to come up with will be great. Ive loved every album so far!
